Throughout these LONG days of isolation (with the exception of essential business), we've longed for a vacatio -, anywhere whether it be for a weekend get-away or longer. For now, I'll have to resort to dreaming of where I'd like to go as I'm not ready to take that step, i.e., hotels, beaches, etc. Therefore, I painted this "escape" in pastel which I've named "Shortcut to Paradise". Soon I hope this dream will come true as this is my kind of vacation!

In 2019, the Pastel Society of Central Florida hosted a juried art exhibit in Enterprise, Florida, called Living Waters and the Florida Landscape . It was in conjunction with photographic images of Florida's Aquatic Preserves by Clyde Butcher. All participants were required to enter works related to anything aquatic. I was so humbled and honored to have won 1st prize with my pastel titled "Floating Lotus".

I've been meaning to write since my last art show in The Villages on October 26. However, as I was walking to my car that morning to unload my paintings, I broke my foot! I managed to stay for the duration of the show thanks to my friend, Debbie Waddell, who helped me hang my paintings and for bringing me an ice pack! Also, thanks to my friends, Joelyn Pillsbury and Debbie's husband, Dave, for their help in dismantling my paintings and helping me back home. Unbeknownst to my husband, Charlie Kraft, he had been playing in our church annual golf fundraiser that day and wasn't aware of my fall until he came to help me after the show. He's been absolutely wonderful, helping me grocery shop and run errands as I can't drive for at least another month. Anyone who's been in a boot, knows what a major inconvenience it is! Now, I'm more mobile and getting back to my painting! Hope to be posting more paintings soon!

Puppy Love.....I so enjoy painting animals, particularly dogs and cats. This is a recent piece I painted in pastel of a King Charles Spaniel. If you would like a lasting memory of a family pet, it would be an honor to commission a piece for you!

Since moving to Florida 6 years ago, I've developed a keen interest in anything aquatic, i.e., the ocean, lily pads, seashells, etc Over the years, I've collected seashells and decided I must try my hand at painting some from my collection. Here's a pastel I want to share with you!

Did I mention that I love to paint animals? Here is my most recent commissioned pastel of two Corgies. These two certainly have their own distinct personalities! My main objective is to capture a likeness and try not to make it look like a photo. Otherwise, why not just hang a photograph? Thanks for the opportunity Joelyn and Lloyd!

In my last post, I mentioned how much I love to paint animals. However, I also have a passion for painting portraits especially children. This is a portrait of my daughter when she was three years old. It was her first trip to the beach, and I wanted to capture this memory of her playing in the sand. If you or anyone you know would love to have a portrait of a family member, please contact me. I'm preparing to exhibit my work including samples of portraits at The Villages Art League art show on July 13. Please come by and pay me a visit!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I love being at the beach this time of year. The sounds of the waves breaking and laughter of children playing in the sand brings back many happy memories. Just looking at the ocean is a mystery wondering what lies below the surface. There are so many beautiful sea creatures, one in particular of a Loggerhead I painted not too long ago in pastel. .

I love anything tropical, especially the variety of birds that boasts their colorful plumage. One of my favorites is the Flamingo, one which I recently painted and sold in a local art show. I'm anxious to begin another one soon in preparation for another art show in October.

Recently I completed a pastel of this cute little girl which I was commissioned to paint. I feel as though I've get to know my subjects during the duration of the painting, and I've missed working on her. Please keep me in mind should you or anyone you know would like a portrait of their family pet.

It's been a busy month preparing for the The Villages Art Summer Show! I met so many people that day, many "lookers" spending their day just browsing, and many serious buyers as well. I'm very fortunate to have sold some of my pieces, and I've been commissioned to paint some dogs and cats for a new client as she wants to give them to her friends for Christmas. Please keep me in mind should you like to give some art work to your friends as a gift. It's a unique idea, and one that gives them a lasting memory.
There were over 200 artists in the exhibit, and I look forward to the next show in October. Thanks to all my friends for their continued support and especially to my "assistant", Charlie Kraft! He's been a tremendous help to me when setting up for exhibits and just being there to offer his help in any way.

The holidays have come and gone, and I think I'm back to some sense of "normalcy". I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and I wish you a very healthy, blessed 2020!
I'm back to my painting after a brief absence, taking orders for the New Year, and shipping my pastels (unframed). Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or private message me with any questions or for more information. I not only paint pets but portraits and landscapes as well. This is my most recent painting of Hamilton which I was commissioned to paint as a Christmas gift.
