Teresa Duke has been around horses and developing her passion for art since childhood. While pursuing her MFA at George Washington University, Ms. Duke studied with renowned painter, William Woodward. She received the prestigous Robert N. Alfandre award for drawing. Upon graduation the artist moved to Rappahannock County, VA where she developed a love for plein air painting while continuing to pur

sue her equine art. She spent two years living in Santa Fe, New Mexico and studied with Wolf Kahn at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts. Duke worked with master portraitist Daniel Greene at his New Salem, NY studio. Currently, the artist resides and paints in The Plains, VA. Her painting, “Paddock at Keeneland” was chosen for the 75th Anniversary issue of Keeneland Magazine in 2011. The artist was featured in the first issue of The Scout Guide’s Hunt County, VA in the summer of 2012. The article, “Art Educator Craves More” appeared in Middleburg Life in May, 2013. “Spring Race at Glenwood Park” was chosen for the cover of The Chronicle of the Horse’s annual steeplechase issue in August of 2013. Her painting “Middleburg Hunt Starts the Parade” was part of the Museum of Hounds and Hunting Show in December, 2013.
