NERO was written, directed, edited, and Executive Produced by Kyoung H. Park.

Amidst writer and actor strikes in film and a revolution following the shutdown of theaters due to COVID, we are proud to have filmed NERO as a SAG-AFTRA approved new media production.

We stand with labor.

Shout-out to our NERO creative team - a unique group of theater-makers and filmmakers of color that helped us bring this hybrid “stream play” production to life. We are so thankful for their contributions and talent!

Check-out NERO before June 30th - only a few days left in our Virtual Premiere.

NERO’s development was launched in parallel with KPB’s Community Co-Lab programming in partnership with our local community partners, GAPIMNY-Empowering Q***r and Trans APIs, The Blasian March, Asians4Abolition, Asians Fighting Injustice, Caribbean Equality Project, PeoplesHub and The Exponential Festival.

Our joint programming included our “Whiteness on Fire” series, which provided political education sessions on abolitionist frameworks and Black and Asian solidarity work taking place in our community. In addition, our community-care strategies included local mutual aid work, through which KPB provided over 5,500 pre-packaged food, PPE, personal hygiene products and over 300 hot meals to our local community for free. Thanks to The Flatbush Junction and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership for hosting us and the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate-Crimes, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, and Councilmember Farah N. Louis for your financial support.

Special thanks to all of our artists and guest speakers nominated to participate by our community partners: Claudia Acosta, Jess Applebaum, Theresa Buchheister, Salomé Egas, Amy Lam, Arnaldo López (Pregones/PRTT), Anastasia Marie, Lauren Nordvig (Brooklyn Arts Council), Angelica Olstad, Cristina Pitter, Juan Michael Porter, Ishmael Thaahir, Margherita Tisato, Diep Tran, Joyce Adewumi (Founder and President, NYC Multicultural Festival), Minahil Akbar Khan (Parole Preparation Project), Mohamed Q. Amin (Founder & Executive Director, Caribbean Equality Project), Conrhonda E. Baker (Board Member, Sole Defined), Carolina Dỗ (Asians4Abolition, The Song Collective), Hope Gazala and Joe Tolbert (PeoplesHub), Eric Lockley (Producing Artistic Leader, The Movement Theatre Company), Joo-Hyung Kang (Former Director of Communities United for Police Reform (CPR)), Steven “Flow” Pacheco (COVID-19 Bailout), Kimberly Powell (Activist & Educator, Asians Fighting Injustice), Zara Nasir (Coordinator, The People’s Plan NYC), Jason Wu (Co-Chair, GAPIMNY-Empowering Q***r & Trans Asian Pacific Islanders), and Rohan Zhou-Lee (Founder, The Blasian March).
