All parents/caregivers know what it’s like to be in the trenches. To be more sleep deprived than you could have EVER imagined. To be torn between wanting some alone time yet not wanting to leave your children’s side…constantly thinking about how much they sleep, nutrition, safety, whether they’re comfy, too stimulated, too bored. Too anything!
You are on it. ALL. THE. TIME.
And most parents/caregivers reach a point where they forget (or simply can’t find time) to care for themselves. Self-care? Where does that fit in? HOW!?
You can’t prioritize sleep when you have multiple children to care for and can’t nap when the baby naps ( #mostannoyingadviceever ) It’s almost impossible to motivate yourself to exercise when you are exhausted. You’d rather watch Netflix ( 👋 #bridgerton ) than expend any more energy. Self-care is just not the priority.
And I know that you know how to take care of yourself, but it’s really frickin’ hard to actually do it! I, too, struggle with making time for myself with the million and 3 things on my to do list. And what I’ve learned is that no one is going to force you to prioritize yourself. No one actually cares more than you do. Which means it must start with YOU. You set the tone.
Because today is #SelfcareSunday and #ValentinesDay here are a few self-care/love affirmations to tell yourself daily to help get you started with a self-care/love mindset. As parents/caregivers raising future generations we owe it to ourselves. 💪🙌
