✨ Welcome to the very first episode of Zanie Time! ✨

Meet Sal 🦙, a fluffy alpaca who went from a blank page to a finished piece in about 90 minutes.

I started with a light graphite sketch, built up his color and texture with colored pencil, then finished with black and white ink to make him pop. Watch the whole thing and see Sal come to life one stroke at a time. The last few minutes are my favorite part! 🖤🤍

This series is just me being creative. No pressure, no perfection, just making art and having fun. Grab a coffee and hang out with me.

👉 Watch to the end, then tell me in the comments: what should I draw next?

I’ve enjoyed drawing, coloring and just being creative most of my life and as far back as I can remember. But, I think watching my cousin Mark as a child drawing cartoon characters really encouraged and pushed my art and talent further. He is a man that I have most respect for and admired his own drawing abilities. Here are some pieces from high school and a few years after where I too started drawing cartoon characters as practicing my abilities and talent.

The collage was done in high school (approx. grade. 9th) and the other three I worked on as practice for painting on the back of car windows. (I will search for those pictures to share as well)

I do not own the rights to these characters, just practicing my skills.

I completed this graphite drawing a couple of weeks ago during one of those quiet moments when I just needed to slow down.

There is something about sitting down with a pencil in hand and simply creating that settles my spirit. No agenda. No rushing. Just peace.

As I worked on these mountains, trees, and open fields, I found myself thinking about how often God invites us into that same kind of stillness.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Sometimes we don’t need another answer, another plan, or another thing to accomplish. Sometimes we simply need to be still long enough to remember Who is holding it all.

The mountains remind me that He is steady.
The open space reminds me to breathe.
The quiet reminds me that God is still speaking.

Creating has always been one of the ways I slow down and listen. And I’m grateful that God gave me a creative heart that can find Him even in the simple act of putting pencil to paper.

A little graphite. A little quiet. A whole lot of gratitude. 🤍

I just love randomly making people smile and bringing a little unexpected joy into someone’s life, for no reason other than to say, “Hey, I care,” without ever having to say a word. ❤️

This graphite drawing was one of those moments last weekend.

There is a beautiful soul at my church who absolutely loves horses, and sometimes I feel like she may get overlooked. I never want anyone to feel overlooked. I want people to feel seen, valued, and loved.

Because Jesus sees us. And He loves us. Every single one of us. ❤️

So, this young lady has a horse, pictured here, and Brian was given the very important secret mission of helping me get a good picture of her horse without her knowing what I was up to. 😂

I spent several days working on this drawing, trying to capture her horse as closely as I could. And finally, I got to give it to her.

This is the finished piece.

It may just be a graphite drawing, but to me, it represents something much bigger: taking a moment to notice someone, to see them, and to remind them that they matter.

Sometimes the smallest gifts carry the biggest messages. ❤️

Three little birds…
a reminder that even the smallest lives carry beauty and song.

This watercolor and pencil piece was created in honor of a dear friend — someone whose spirit feels like morning light and quiet faithfulness.

Sometimes art becomes a thank-you without words.

Walking the shoreline together —
laughing, dreaming, holding tight.

This painting of two sisters on the beach was created to honor that unspoken bond — the one that weathers storms and still walks side by side.

Some relationships are gifts from the very beginning.

“May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.” — Psalm 72:3

This watercolor painting of quiet mountains was created as a reminder that God’s promises rise steady and sure — like peaks that stand through every season.

Mountains don’t rush.
They don’t strive.
They simply stand — rooted, faithful, enduring.

May our lives bear that same quiet fruit.
