With fun and upbeat jams constantly being created, it is hard to not bob your head and catch the groove while listening to the smooth reggae styling of Clint Stevens. Before Clint Stevens, Clint Richardson and Steve Rector created music together as The Humble Champions during their time together as roommates. In March of 2016, they took their original music to an open mic night at Shady Park in Te
mpe with the addition of Clint's longtime friends Joe Irizarry and Nick Turner. In a recent lineup change, the band has been joined by drummer Zenon Castro, who has provided a much desired sharpness and variety with his reggae style. The Clint Stevens boys spent their first year as a band establishing themselves in the local music scene, playing as many venues across the valley as possible. With a strong start in their first year, the boys continued the momentum early in 2017, playing events such as the ERRL cup and Pot of Gold Music Festival, as well as releasing their first EP, The Pinner. Shortly after the release of The Pinner, the boys enlisted the help of local saxophonist Chaz Fertal (The Hourglass Cats) and percussionist Henri Benard (Dry River Yacht Club, The Hourglass Cats, Fayuca, The Everyday Players) to provide additional layers that would give Clint Stevens a big band sound. The addition of these two well-established local musicians elevated Clint Stevens' sound like they never could have imagined, and propelled the band to playing sold out shows with national and world-touring acts. Now, as they wind down the year will a full schedule, they look to continue recording with hopes of a full album released by the end of 2018, as well as expanding their reach to playing shows outside of Arizona.
