Call for Art Take Back the Night 2022
Buried Treasures
La Frontera/Empact and Life Arts Wellness Studio invite local artists to participate in a virtual juried exhibition for the 2022 Take Back the Night event. Take Back the Night is an international movement with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. The dual purpose of this virtual exhibit is to raise awareness of the issue, and show support for survivors.
The exhibition theme, Buried Treasures encourages artists and viewers to consider the healing journey of survivors as a search for treasure. Whether it be connecting with other survivors, building strength and confidence, or discovering something new about oneself, even small treasures inspire us to continue our journey.
Artists are invited to submit works that resonate with the exhibition theme. The format for submission pieces is wide open, 2D, 3D, sculpture, mixed media, etc. The challenge is to incorporate at least one item that would otherwise have been discarded as broken or unusable. The artwork will be photographed/videoed in a gallery setting for the virtual event and the pieces will be returned to their creators after the event.
Exhibition Details
● Entries must be the artist’s original work.
● Entries can be 2D, 3D, multimedia - should include at least one item that would otherwise have been discarded as broken or unusable.
● All entries will be juried and artists will be notified of acceptance.
● One best of show winner will be announced during the April 3rd event.
Entry Information
● Only one submission per artist. Google form for submission below- NO fee for submission. Entries must include an image of the piece. Digital images can be uploaded below.
● Images preferred 300 dpi, .jpg format.
Important Dates
● Submissions close – March 7, 11:59pm
● Email notification of acceptance - March 9th
● Selected work due at LaFrontera/Empact - March 18th- needs to be ready for hanging/display. TIME-TBD
● Event/Exhibition - April 3rd
● Art Pick up date - April 6th, at LaFrontera/Empact . TIME-TBD
