For the past 6 years, Virtual Theater Lab has explored storytelling across all formats, from live stage productions and Readers Theatre to live and pre-recorded virtual plays and readings. As we look to the future, we are evolving into a dedicated digital script hub for playwrights, directors, and producers, with one core mission at heart: serving as a platform for real human artistry, and building a sustainable model to pay actors for their time.
We know AI has been making its way into creative spaces, but there is no substitute for the breath, timing, vulnerability, and heart that living, breathing actors bring to a script.
We are at the preliminary stages of building our VTL Virtual Ensemble, a diverse, talented network of performers we can cast for upcoming recorded table reads, developmental workshops, and both virtual and live staged readings.
A Transparent Note on Our Timeline
Though we are in the early, ground-floor stages of this transition, building this ensemble now ensures we have a rich, versatile pool of talent ready to go. Depending on upcoming script selections, casting needs, and client projects, you might be called on right away, or it may be months down the road as new commissioned reads roll in.
How It Works:
Remote & Flexible: Most projects take place virtually, meaning you can join from anywhere with a stable internet connection, decent audio, and a quiet space.
Low Time Commitment, High Impact: Reads typically involve a short prep/rehearsal session and the recorded performance.
Paid Opportunities: As we roll out commissioned packages, digital catalog projects, and staged readings, ensemble members are booked for paid session work and profit-share reading projects.
Industry Visibility: Your performances will be heard and seen directly by playwrights, producers, and directors scouting both new scripts and fresh talent.
