Last week I was invited to dine at the Stone Grill in Tavares and interview April's foodie of the month.

Yes, there have been several other restaurants in this location, but I must say that The Stone Grill, at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and 441, is truly unique.

The restaurant boasts an exceptional menu and offers a unique dining experience by cooking on a hot stone at your table.
Fondue has made a comeback, and the Stone Grill is ready to introduce the residents of Lake County to this delicious cheese treat.
I love fondue, and the whole dipping experience allows you to get your creative juices flowing while the unique sizzle method of cooking on a super-hot stone sears your meat and locks in the flavor.
The menu offers a four course experience, beginning with a smooth creamy fondue served with bread and vegetables.
The next course is a Stone Grill inspired soup or salad. The third course is your choice of chicken, shrimp, beef or scallops. The final course is a velvety chocolate fondue served with cake pieces, fruit and marshmallows; now, that is a campfire meal for sophisticated adults.
Prices for this dining experience range from $27.95 to $29.95 per person.

A recent review, dated March 10th. We weren't sure about trying this place after reading reviews but we have a new favorite restaurant in Tavares! He had a perfectly cooked ribeye, broccoli and baked potato. I had fish and chips with slaw. The fish was light and tasty, not overly breaded. Nice decor, a little too sunny to eat on the deck, but an excellent dining experience! We plan to return soon!

Stone Grill is a newly remodeled fish & steakhouse in the former building of where many places have failed.

The remodel was done tastefully well, the inside is nice and inviting. It boasts ample seating with nice chairs and sturdy tables. You can also get a beautiful view of the lake from almost any seat in the house with the huge windows.

Food, man the food was excellent. For a brand new restaurant I honestly was not expecting the food to be as good as it was. My wife both and I had the filet which came with two sides and a soup or salad. The filet was fork tender and perfectly cooked to a ruby red, medium rare. The mac and cheese + baked potato were standard. The ceased salad had a unique lemony flavor to it which was quite delightful on the palate. They also have fresh home made chips and salsa which were delightful. I also was able to try poutine! I was not expecting to find this dish so close to home!

The rest of the menu is filled with delicious options for anyone, shrimp scampi, mahi-mahi, surf N' turf, burgers, wings, fries. They also have a full liquor & bar with wine, mixed drinks and beer. I was delighted to hear they had my favorite beer on tap.

The service was great, we had one waitress who made sure out appetizers, salads and entrees were spaced out long enough so our table was not crowded with excess plates. Drinks and refills were done in a timely manner. The manager of the restaurant also payed our table a visit to introduce himself and to make sure everything was perfectly done to our liking.

Thank you Stone Grill if you see this for making our Christmas Eve dinner out a night to remember. I will definitely return the favor by telling my friends and coworkers about your restaurant!
