After Gunsmoke, both James Arness and Amanda Blake received numerous accolades for their contributions to television. James Arness earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and was recognized with the Western Heritage Award at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1981 and has a commemorative statue in Dodge City, Kansas.

Amanda Blake, who played Miss Kitty, also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1981 and was widely praised for her work in animal welfare, especially through her involvement with PAWS. After her passing, she was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers in 1997, further cementing their iconic status in TV and Western entertainment history.

Plot
The story takes place in a small town called Rio Bravo, where Sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne) is facing a big challenge. A dangerous criminal, Joe Burdette (Claude Akins), has killed an innocent man and is arrested. However, when Burdette is the younger brother of a powerful man in town, his gang of henchmen are planning to rescue and take revenge.

To protect Burdette and keep the law in place, Sheriff Chance must face the attackers and find a way to keep the prisoner safe while waiting for help from the outside. John Wayne in Big Jake (1971) – Classic Western Role
In Big Jake (1971), John Wayne plays Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles, a tough, tough but affectionate old cowboy. This is one of his last and most memorable Western roles.

The film is set in 1909, when the Western era is gradually changing with the appearance of cars, machine guns and new laws.

Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles is a legendary gunfighter, but has been living away from his family for many years.

When his nephew is kidnapped by a gang led by John Fain (Richard Boone) and held for a ransom of $1 million, Jake's ex-wife (Maureen O'Hara) calls him back to handle the problem in a way that only Big Jake can.

Jake sets out with his two sons (Patrick Wayne & Christopher Mitchum) and a loyal friend (Bruce Cabot), carrying a ransom suitcase – which is actually filled with scraps of paper. Along the way, Jake must deal with dangerous enemies while trying to mend his strained relationship with his sons.
