In a continued effort to support cultural growth in our small towns, a new endeavor has been undertaken right here in Carroll County. Taneytown for the Arts, a non-profit formed in January of this year, promises to be a crowning achievement in artistic development in our community. Taneytown for the Arts is built upon the belief that the arts, in their various expressions, are an essential thread
in the fabric of our community. This highly anticipated initiative aspires to provide Taneytown and the surrounding area with an integrated experience through education, expression, and connection for local artists. As such, Taneytown for the Arts will partner with local residents, schools, businesses, and organizations to create a cohesive artistic family that will come together to celebrate life through the arts and strengthen our town’s cultural identity. The organization plans to offer a variety of free community art events, as well as artistic performances including plays, dance recitals, and instrumental and choral concerts. The organization will also offer camps designed to enhance the experience of the arts in the lives of our youth, and we will be able to offer a limited number of scholarships so that none may find barriers to their participation in the arts.
