Looking ahead to 2022. New goals, new prospects, same vision.
The Rialto Theatre was built in 1924 and was a live stage theater until the early 50's. For the next 50 years, it was an industrial car and welding workshop, and then a neglected storage warehouse.
In 2013, I bought this dingy concrete box on an empty street, and knew it would be so much more. In 5 short years, the business was thriving and the building was full of love, joyous occassions, and creative projects, as the transformations continued. First, the basics of electric, plumbing, walls, doors, then a few decortaive touches and restorations, followed by transformations behind the scenes like solar power.
We all know what 2019 brought and we mourn the loss of many great small businesses, especially restaurants, coffee shops, retails shops, and event vendors. So I rested, scaled down to the minimums, dug in for business planning, and kept the course. Don't call it a comeback, because the Rialto and 8-Count Productions never left.
The Rialto has seen economic hardships, pandemics, and storms, and still stands. 8-Count Productions, est 2011, can now say the same. But still we stand. And rise. And do it all through love.
Love of the drive. Love of community. Love of people. Love conquers all.
So as we look ahead, set goals, and dream bigger, make sure you start from the ground up. Support small. Support community. Support entrepreneurs.

PC Dewitt For Love
8 Years ago today.
The Rialto Theatre, built in 1924, was an operating theater on and off until approximately 1950. At that time the box office and entry doors were removed and blocked over, all the interior seats, stage, and theater remnants removed, and the building was used for automotive repair and machinery of over 50 years. By 2013, it was being used for storage; a forgotten theater in a forgotten neighborhood.
In 2013 I found her and took a chance. On this day, 8 years ago, I made it official.
Contractors and inspectors questioned and doubted me. Friends and family supported my dreams and assisted in a million ways. 8 years later and the Rialto and the Yellow Brick Row have new life, and I love sharing it with the Tampa community. Thank you for being a part of my journey as a small business owner est 2011, historic theater caretaker, venue operator, gallery curator, and a million hats in between.
Sparkling and set for a weekday ceremony.
Any day you choose to say "I do" is the best day!
This deserves a share!
It's a wedding day! And Friday intros!!
What this really means is that I put on real clothes and this is my smiling face behind my mask. I didn't realize how much I missed event days until I wanted to hug each of my friendors as they arrived. Man, I have missed you all.
When you hit the contact button on the website it goes straight to my inbox for reply. When you visit the theater for a tour, I am your guide. When you need suggestions to bring your ideas to life, I am typing them as fast as I can reply. When your vendors arrive, I am unlocking the doors and setting the light levels. And just maybe, I catch a glimpse of you coming back down the aisle to say congrats! That is what you get at the Rialto, with me as a small business owner.
Fun facts:
I am double jointed in all my fingers and toes, can wiggle my ears, and other random useless skills like stilt walking and balloon animals.
I spent a month in Peru studying medicine men and women.
I spent 15 years in pro and collegiate sports entertainment while 2 teams won their champion titles (I will let you guess which ones).
I have sang on stages throughout Bosnia and Kosovo to support our troops serving there, and have many great stories to tell (and some to keep).
