I want to address the criticism I’ve received for using AI to help create some flyers and promotional graphics.
I understand the concerns surrounding AI and art. Artists deserve credit, compensation, respect, and protection for their work.
But using AI as a tool to make a flyer does not mean I devalue original art—or support copying someone else’s work.
Feeling Art Collective exists because I believe in artists.
I provide wall space for local artists to show and sell their original work. I invite artists to teach, promote their work, encourage new artists, host creative gatherings, and work hard to keep a physical place alive where people can make, share, buy, and experience art.
And yes, sometimes I use AI to help make a flyer.
I’m an artist, not a graphic designer. I’m also one person running a small, community-centered art space with limited time and resources. If a tool helps me turn my photograph, information, ideas, and words into something attractive enough to bring people through the door to learn from a real local artist, I’m going to use it thoughtfully.
While we debate the technology behind the flyer, we can overlook what it’s inviting you to do:
Come make art.
Come learn from an artist.
Come buy original art.
Come support a local creative.
Come make something with your own hands.
That’s what I care about.
You don’t have to agree with every tool I use. Conversations about AI, copyright, artists’ rights, and ethics matter. But please don’t mistake a tool I use for an administrative task as my philosophy about art.
If you want to know what I believe, don’t look at my flyer.
Come inside the shop.
You’ll find the answer on the walls, around the table, in the classes, in the glorious mess, and in the people supporting one another.
