What a big day for RAA Dance!

Today was Arts Etiquette Day at Raa, when students get to see their classmates perform and learn how to be a great audience. It is one of the things that makes Augusta Raa special as a fine arts magnet school.

The RAA Dance Team and our RAA Dance Company classes were part of the show. For many of our Company dancers it was their first time ever performing as Raa Dancers.

We are so proud of every one of you, Team and Company.

This is only the beginning!

What a night for Augusta Raa Middle School!

Congrats to our football team on the big win and to our cheer squad for keeping the crowd loud all game long!

Football games at RAA bring the whole school together and the RAA Dance Team is proud to be part of it.

If you were in the stands last night you saw our dancers take the field at halftime. These girls put in hours every week after school to make those two minutes look easy and they can't wait to be back out there this season.

The RAA Dance Team is hosting Tiny Dancers, a dance clinic for kindergarten through 5th graders, this Saturday, September 12 from 9am to 1pm at the Raa Middle School gym.

Led by Ms. Stacy Weaver, our dance team members and dance professionals from our community, this clinic is a fun morning of real technique work. Proceeds support the team's competition fees, costumes and the Raa dance program.

Cost is $40, paid the day of camp by cash, check or money order (made out to Raa MS Dance). Please register ahead of time using the link in the comments so we can plan for your dancer. Walk ups are welcome too.

Welcome to the official home of RAA Dance!

For years there's been a dance studio tucked in the middle of Raa Middle School, and as our director Ms. Stacy Weaver once put it, "Most people don't even know we're here."

This page is your one stop for both sides of our program: the RAA Dance Team, our competitive squad, and the RAA Dance Company, our dance program for students who want to grow, perform, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

A little about who we are: Ms. Weaver has led dance at Raa since 2017 and founded the competitive team. Since then, our dancers have brought home a NATIONAL championship and state titles in both high kick and hip hop. (Fun fact: a high kick routine has to land 60 kicks in two minutes just to be scored.)

But trophies aren't really the point. Our eighth-grade captains lead by example every day, lifting up the newest sixth graders learning their first splits. As one of our dancers said, "It's like a built-in family."

Follow along for competition updates, performance dates, football game halftimes, our annual elementary school "Thriller" tour, fundraisers, photos, and plenty of reasons to cheer. Hit Follow and share with anyone who loves dance and loves Tallahassee. We can't wait to show this community what our dancers can do.

Let's dance!
