Happy Caturday!

We had a tragedy at the shelter overnight.

The toy mouse succumbed to an accidental drowning caused by happy kittens playing. It did not survive. 😓 No kittens were harmed and they were supplied a brand new, dry toy mouse and a clean bowl of fresh, non-mousy water.

😂🤣😂😇 Happy Caturday, everyone! 😉

Cats have a wonderful way of walking into our lives as if they’ve always belonged there. We may feed them, fuss over them and buy the fancy beds they ignore… but really, they decide we’re theirs.

Both Harry and Salt chose us, coming in from the cold one winter. Did your cat choose you?

This is Edith. Edith is approximately 1,012 years old, give or take a century or so. She has been at Catman2 for seven weeks, receiving compassionate palliative care. She had been found by a Good Samaritan, emaciated and not even able to stand. They did their best to nurse her back to health for a month but ultimately recognized she needed higher level of care and reached out to us. Edith’s kidneys weren’t happy and she was only a little over 5 pounds, even after the kind couple who took her in had put weight on her. We were able to get her weight up to almost six pounds but it stalled there and then began to drop again. Her kidneys are actually happier thanks to the fluids we have been giving her, but being a supercentarian is catching up with her. Wise old Edith is getting allllll the treats she wants. And 👵🏻 LOVES treats. Hospice care isn’t always easy, but we love our Edith and will keep her comfortable until she lets us know she’s tired. It’s important that after all she has been through, she experiences as much love and care as possible. And boy is she 😻💜

I just wanted to share our pretty girl with y’all so even more people can love her. If you’d like to come visit her, give us a holler! She loves ✨ gentle ✨ attention :)

Kitties on a road trip! One of my longest running series. I remember painting the first one on the small landing in our house in Alberta Arts in Portland, OR. I might not paint as many of these as I used to, but 22 years later, I'm still adding to the series. 😺

New painting available! I had a 10" x 10" mounted wood canvas waiting to be painted, so here we are!

Foujita once said of cats: 'I think cats were given to men so that they could learn something about women.'

Tsuguharu Foujita moved from Tokyo to Paris in 1913 and became one of the most renowned painters of the Montparnasse circle in the 1920s. The subjects he returned to most included ivory-skinned female nudes and cats - sometimes with both on the same canvas.

The milky-white effect in this small oil painting (35x27 cm), created by Foujita in 1923, is tied to the unique white ground technique he developed in the 1920s. Most of the painting is covered in subtle transitions of off-white, cream, and grayish-beige. Foujita kept the recipe for this white a secret for years. He later revealed it: linseed oil, crushed chalk, and magnesium silicate.

He drew the lines using an ultra-fine Japanese brush called a menso, applying sumi ink to create delicate contours and soft shading effects. There's also an impression of slight asymmetry and a shift in focus in the eyes. The large, dark eyes create the feeling that the cat is making eye contact with you, no matter what angle you look at the painting from.

Published in New York in 1930, A Book of Cats was printed in just 500 copies, and today it's considered one of the rarest and most sought-after art books on cats. In 2014, a copy sold for $77,500.

Anyone can drop off Supplies our Catman2 Shelter needs at The American Museum of The House Cat in . Just let us know they are for Kaleb & the ShelterKitties and we will make sure he gets them…

Hi, friends! We are looking for local businesses in the Sylva area to serve as collection locations for cat food and supply donations. This kitten season is ✨ brutal ✨ and we have so many mouths to feed here at the shelter. We are also helping so many folks in our community feed their kitties in these hard times, so our pet food pantry needs some serious restocking with both wet and dry cat food of any kind. If you have a business and would be willing to collect for us, we would be happy to pick up!
Please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) if you can help.

For anyone else who wants to help, we have updated our supply wish lists to mostly food and non-clumping litter. Our shipping address is 635 Bo Cove Rd Cullowhee, NC 28723 You can find them here:

The panic is real!

I'll have engineering plans tomorrow or Saturday which means I can order materials for the main structure. Eeeeee!
I have a cardboard template for shaping the Bat Ray solar panel support and it is huge! 😃

We're finishing up the arm forms on the Purrmaid so I can bring her over to my shop and start welding!

So much to do and a lot of expensive stuff still to purrchase. Diesel alone has caused my transportation costs to go waaaaaay up.

So, if you are able, please consider being a Catributor. If you are not able, spreading the important information (in the comments below) is greatly appurreciated!

And if you are a skilled and creative metal fabricator (or even certified welder), I need your help! Send me a DM and I can fill you in on all the crazy stuff I want to accomplish. 😻

I will not be able to train folks to weld due to time, space and engineering constraints. Sorry. 🙁

Thank mew so meowch!
