Since its beginning in 1941, the Rochelle Rotary Club has been dedicated to unifying and helping our community. The club's commitment to help inspired the creation of the Rochelle Township High School Interact Club, which adopted many of the Rotary Club's goals. Throughout the past few years, the Rochelle Township High School Interact Club has become an essential part of the Rochelle community. Wi
th a desire to help serve our town and create lasting effects, our group has been involved in countless projects and activities to better our own city and the areas around us. In order to bring together the community, our Interact club has sponsored pumpkin carving and a sweetheart skate. Both of these activities gear towards establishing a congenial social setting to incorporate foreign exchange students from the surrounding areas and allow them to be a part of our program and feel welcomed into the Rochelle community. Make a Difference Day (MADD), one of our more notable projects, involves us taking a day to assist those in our community. By raking leaves and cleaning up neighborhoods, MADD encourages togetherness and generates pride for all of the hard work we accomplish. Our Interact Club also provides entertainment for our school and raises money by organizing the student/faculty games. This fundraiser is arguably our most active and exciting event, as it motivates students to get involved with their school. As students battle the teachers in volleyball and basketball games, the exciting, competitive atmosphere draws in students to come watch the great rivalry. With guidance from Shelter Box USA, the Rochelle Interact Club was able to extend its reach across the globe with the creation of a shelter box. These shelter boxes provide support for families in dire need, and our community was blessed with the opportunity of helping organize a box to be sent somewhere it was needed. We took on this project with enthusiasm and eagerly gave a $1,000 donation. As part of a fundraising program, we put together a presentation on the R.A.C.E.S (Rochelle Area Community Emergency Services)
Rochelle is a small town located in northern Illinois about eighty miles west of Chicago. Although our town is only home to 10,000 people, we are known as "The Hub City" due to the intersection of two major railway lines, the Union Pacific Railroad and the BNSF Railway, and other surrounding highways and interstates that link us to cities across the map. The prime location for this project, Skare Park is a symbol of Rochelle and effectively conveys the small-town aspect that this area has embodied ever since its founding. Skare Park represents the beauty, energy, and simplicity of the town. Since the park has been established, it has become the center of enjoyment for many Rochelle residents. With our Skare Park Revitalization Project, we hope to build new bridges in Skare Park to restore the park to its former glory. As of right now, the bridges at Skare Park are unsafe, a major concern for anyone wanting to traverse the wooded areas around the park. Not only will the restoration of new bridges bring safety, but the new bridges will also exhibit the pride we take in keeping our community an adventurous, exciting, and beautiful place waiting to be explored. By making these bridges more visually appealing, hopefully it will inspire people of all ages to come out to the park, making it once again a popular destination for all of Rochelle's residents. By working together unanimously with the same goals in mind, our Interact group will positively benefit from this experience as well. It will take collaboration, dedication, and participation to make this project a success. If successful, we know our efforts will be worthwhile when we can actually see the result of all of our hard work. Since the students are being allowed to take charge, it will teach the importance of responsibility, discussion, and teamwork and allow them to independently overcome the challenges they face. Due to its enormity, donations will be an integral part of this project. Although we can raise some of the money on our own, we cannot raise it all which is why we are asking for your help. Each donation can help us reach certain goals for the Revitalization Project. Any donation received will be greatly appreciated and go directly towards the funding of this project that our Interact club is very eager about. Thank you very much! Level I - $10,000 14' bridge
