So, yes... I hate having ADHD. When I meet kids with it, I feel for them. They don't know how to control themselves. They're too little to understand it. Some kids get treated poorly because of it. People think they're just "bad" kids. They're not, they're just severely misunderstood and need compassion and support.
Many adults with ADHD are often considered lazy because we get so overwhelmed and overstimulated that we shut down and barely get anything accomplished. It also can effect our memory. It has mine.
We can't focus. Imagine tangled strings or cords. You have 20 strings attached from the brain to the task and they each have a bead that you need to slide from the brain to the task to get the task completed. The strings are so tangled, the bead cannot get past the thought in the brain because the tangled knot is in the way. Medication, exercise and change of diets and physical support from others help untangle those strings so we have a clear path to complete our tasks. Without any of those support systems, we just keep fighting against the knot.
I'm currently stuck, but soon, I'll be on my way to getting those strings untangled. Meanwhile, be respectful and patient with those around you who seem mentally stuck. You have no idea what their brain is struggling with.
