Not every closet comes with a perfect layout.

This oddly shaped closet needed a little decluttering and a system that worked with the space we actually had. By removing what was no longer needed and giving everything else a purposeful home, we made the closet much easier to use.

Good organization is about making your space work for you, even when the space is a little weird.

DECLUTTERING TRUTHS #1

If you’ve run out of space, you probably don’t need more storage. You need to declutter.

Before buying another bin, shelf, cabinet, or storage system, take a look at what is already taking up space.

What do you actually use? What do you love? What has simply been stored because there was room for it?

Declutter first. Organize what remains. Then decide if you actually need more storage.

Suitcases are one of those items that quietly multiply over the years. Old luggage gets replaced, but somehow the old pieces never quite leave.

Take a quick inventory. Which sizes do you actually use? Are any broken, awkward, or collecting dust?

Before storing everything until next year, take a few minutes to declutter. Keep the pieces you love and use, then donate the ones that spent the entire summer taking up space.

Seasonal transitions are one of my favorite built-in opportunities to edit what we own.

Future-you will appreciate opening that summer bin next year.

Deep drawers are great...until everything disappears into the abyss.

The deeper the drawer, the more important it is to have a good bin and a simple system.

Bins create boundaries, keep categories together, and make it easier to see exactly what you have. Think of them as little neighborhoods inside your drawer. Everything gets an address.

The goal is simple: open the drawer, find what you need, and put it back just as easily.

A good bin + a good system = a deep drawer that actually works.
