Very excited to tell you about one of my latest projects, On Common Grounds, featuring watercolor sketch art of beautiful people! Currently exhibited at Beans n Cream Coffee in Cannery Square, the display also features questions to spark thought, conversation, and kindness. I wanted a way for my art to have a positive impact on a world that is pretty hard right now. Please visit it, not for me, but as a way to see so many other people as friends.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Inspired by the beautiful book, Theo of Golden, this project showcases the people who make up our neighborhood, our community, and world through fun watercolor art. The people you see here are customers of Beans n Cream Coffee — regulars and new! Theo, the main character in the book, brilliantly connects art, language, music and more, to emotional human experiences. The author quotes the French painter, Marcel Duchamp, who once said, “great art is completed by the viewer.” — Making these art pieces faceless with no backgrounds does just that: allows us to focus on the humans we see, to feel emotions more clearly, to experience the world through a fresh lens, and to imagine, with empathy and understanding, the personal stories of the people you see here. Thank you for the inspiration, Allen Levi Downtown Sun Prairie
