African Wild dog or Painted dog, Endangered
These are one of world's most Endangered mammals.
Often blamed for livestock kills from other big mammals. They come into conflict with people as their habitat decreases.
Large packs live together with little aggression, cooperating & taking care of each other.
Charities such as African Wildlife Foundation & WWF International are working with local communities & protecting wildlife corridors to reduce conflicts.
I became aware of these amazing animals after a visit Africa Alive Reserve
With bat like ears & stunning markings, they really stood out to me.
I had to paint one. This is my completed piece following my day Ipswich Museums
This is an A5 canvas which i find more manageable while my arthritis plays up!
During this heatwave I had to adapt.
I love discovering new species too.

International Orangutan day 2026
I am always looking for ways to engage with people especially children & talk endangered species.
Getting the chance to take part in Ipswich Art Discovery day Ipswich Museums in the stunning setting of Christchurch mansion was perfect.
I sketched out some designs for children to take away as a colouring sheet & my helpful son Kieran Page set them up for me.
Along side of my art, I love to learn more about my subjects. Today I even had a youngster sharing her knowledge on moths which was cool.

It's the Tawny owls time to pop up.
I'm very lucky to live near woodlands & last night we heard Tawny owls hooting in the distance.
This morning on my early morning walk, a Tawny flew up from a tree near me.
It is quite magical to witness an owl in flight as there's no sound.
For a moment, time stands still as I stand & watch.
Although these are not endangered, they are on the UK's amber list as they have declined by 40% in recent years.
Our woodlands are essential habitat for many of our species.
Get out & experience them to show that we care & that they need preserving.

Fundraising Robins
I'm getting ready for the weekend fayre Green Island Gardens & painting more Robins. I sell these to raise funds for our local hospice St Elizabeth Hospice
These would make a unique gift for any wildlife lover or as a special memorial of a loved one.
As usual, my garden wildlife is really distracting.
I think we have a new brood of young Robins who are trying to establish territory as they are so noisy.
It's amazing how something so small can be so loud over everything else!
