This Custom Coffee Table was ordered as a recreation of a design selected by my customer, I love the Octagonal Legs! To get this chance to work on such satisfying joinery... I'm very grateful for all of the lessons I've gained from this experience. 100% Would make it again, very fun build!

Custom Project Underway: Oak Coffee Table

Restoration is where my work with wood began, and while I mainly concentrate on new projects now, from time to time another opportunity will come along, where I get to learn from someone far more experienced than myself.

Several years ago, I came into the temporary possession of this beautiful "New" Dining Chair made by George Nakashima in the 1950's. One of it's legs had snapped off at the seat, and a cross-member had also split. I had no contact info for its owner, so for a few years it sat in my shop, and occasionally I would find time to work on some aspect of it, to the point where it eventually was restored to proper condition.

By a stroke of luck, I managed to obtain an old receipt for the dining table I had made for this customer. So I reached out and was pleased to discover the number was valid and that this gorgeous piece of art history could go back home and rejoin with its family once again!

The chance to work with such beautiful material, while learning the tools and methods of true masters in this craft is a genuine joy and privilege that comes with this line of work.

This Arbor style custom dining table, made with legs cut from a single reclaimed roughsawn beam, is finished and out the door! This customer had a specific style in mind and was very pleased with the end result. It feels great to know this table will host many Family dinners for years to come 😊

A custom floating vanity I made for a customer, they had an idea and we made it a reality! Gotta love how nicely the shelves tie into the decor. I'm drawing up plans for a different style of vanity for the same customer now.

This was a fun Custom project, the customer wanted a new top for their driftwood base, and we were even able to match the species of wood; Black Locust! The wood came from an outdoor chapel we took down in Laurel, there's a blurry video of that demo if you scroll far enough. Beautiful material to work with, not the easiest to cut though...

What do you think of this creation? The customer had the visionary idea to use an old 5 panel door to act as legs for this great kitchen island. The top gave me a little trouble, but nothing a little starbond and sanding couldn't solve!

Here's a set of barn doors I made a while ago for a customer, ended up staining them dark walnut, painting them white, then lightly distressed the paint. No image of them installed unfortunately, but I'm pleased with how they came out 🙂
