Special congratulations to Mary Beth B who qualified for preliminary championship by placing in her prizewinner treble jig and hornpipe and to Rosie H who brought home the Helen Maher Armstrong Memorial trophy as the 2014 U16 preliminary champion and qualified for open championships! Effective August 1, 2014, the Aoibhneas an Rince Irish Dancers will merge with the Southern Academy of Irish Dance and will now be known as the Southern Academy of Irish Dance - Virginia. SAID-VA will be co-directed by Denise Fumagali, TCRG, and Kristin Butke Zagorski, ADCRG.

It's spring! So many exciting things going on! This is going to have to be a series . . .
First up - we are thrilled to announce a brand new course offering! There are many folks out there with family members struggling with a myriad of cognitive/behavioral issues. New research has shown that many of those behaviors can be resolved through neurological reorganization, which can be as simple as adding a diet of very specific daily exercises. If you or someone you know is affected by ADHD, sensory issues, Autism, fine motor or auditory processing delays, come join us for our new BrainFit class, inspired by the research gathered by master teacher and creator of the Connections seminar, Virginia Largent, of the Virginia Beach School for the Arts! Students will learn and practice those specific brain exercises together! So there you go - a school "tradition" upheld . . . we've always reminded our students to eat bananas for the potassium, particularly when we're dancing in hot weather, but who knew?! It's so much more . . . Banana anyone?
The next time you're at the grocery store you are going to notice the bananas more than ever before. I know I did.
Sigh . . LOVE snow days; ice days not so much . . . Loudoun County Public Schools are closed today and so are we. . . stay in, stay safe. . . and PRACTICE! :-)
