New to the Jeep ducking tradition?
We started this business as Jeep owners who were frequently ducked and saw a need in the market for custom ducks that could be collected and given as gifts. But the real question is how did it all start?
Here’s the story:
Jeep Ducking (officially called "Duck Duck Jeep") is a wholesome community tradition that started almost by accident and grew into a global movement.
How it started:
In 2020, a Canadian Jeep owner named Allison Parliament was having a rough day when a stranger left a rubber duck on her Jeep with a note encouraging her to pass it on to another Jeep. She loved the idea so much that she began buying ducks and leaving them on Jeeps around her area. The tradition spread organically from there.
How it works:
The concept is simple — if you own a Jeep, you carry rubber ducks with you. When you spot another Jeep parked somewhere, you leave a duck on it (usually on the door handle, mirror, or hood). The recipient finds it, smiles, and is encouraged to "pay it forward" by ducking other Jeeps. No note is required, though many people attach little cards to personalize the experience.
Why it resonated so deeply:
Jeep owners already had a strong culture of community, and they typically wave to each other on the road (the famous "Jeep Wave"), go on group off-road trips, trail rides, and share a sense of camaraderie around their ride. Ducking fit perfectly into that existing culture. It's random, anonymous, costs almost nothing, and makes someone's day.
How big it got:
The tradition exploded on social media, particularly TikTok and Instagram, where people post "I got ducked!" videos. Jeep officially embraced it and referenced it in marketing, and even Stellantis (Jeep's parent company) has acknowledged the phenomenon. Today, entire shops, Facebook groups, and communities are dedicated to it, with people collecting the ducks they've received.
The duck culture:
People got creative fast. Ducks started to have themes including holiday ducks, sports team ducks, military ducks, profession-specific ducks, glow-in-the-dark ducks, and, of course, our favorite-> 3D printed custom ducks. The more unique the duck, the more exciting it is.
Why it matters culturally:
During the pandemic era, when people were craving genuine human connection and small acts of kindness, Ducking struck a chord. It's tangible, surprising, and creates a tiny story centered around the fact that someone thought of you, even as a stranger. That’s powerful.
We wanted to make that experience even more memorable. Our 3D printed ducks take it to the next level with one of the largest collections of unique designs perfect for making someone’s day.
