Bojanglers of CT

Bojanglers of CT We are an enthusiastic singing group from Southern Fairfield County Connecticut. Throughout the year, we average two to three events per month.

About five years ago, we began volunteering regularly at local senior or assisted living communities and rehabilitation centers. We do not seek to perform so much as to provide an interactive musical experience to the residents of these facilities. To that end, our musicians play guitars or other instruments (for example, harmonica, mandolin or banjo) and we bring percussion instruments (tambourin

es, bells, maracas) for residents to play rhythm. In addition, the Bojanglers supply songbooks so that our singers, residents and caretakers can sing together. Our songbook typically includes classic folk and Americana songs during most of the year and Christmas carols during the holiday season. It is a wonderful experience for the residents of the facilities we visit, but a truly an unforgettable one for the Bojanglers because of the connection we share with the audience through music. During the short holiday season our goal is to schedule two events per week. We always welcome new singers and/or facilities to join in the fun. The Bojanglers had a wonderful time at Hill House Senior Residence last week. All of the residents were enthusiastically singing along.

The Bojanglers are kicking off our fall season schedule this month at Hill House Senior Residence in Greenwich on Tuesday, October 23rd. We will have another two events before our holiday program begins at the end of November. The holiday season is busiest time of year for the Bojanglers. We have two events scheduled per week from the end of November to the third week in December. We are looking forward to singing at many different facilities all over lower Fairfield County!

The Bojanglers have concluded our summer series of events and are taking a break until fall. So far in 2018, we have held 19 events at 18 different facilities around Southern Fairfield County, singing and visiting with hundreds of residents and clients. We are organizing ourselves for the fall and holiday season events and hope to continue our mission of bringing the joy of song to our friends and neighbors living in and served by the various senior living, rehabilitation centers and similar facilities in our community. We are sending best wishes for an enjoyable end of summer and festive Labor Day holiday. See you in the Fall!

Perhaps you have heard of "PUBCHOIR" in Australia? If not, for a smile go their page and read about it! Folks come together in a pub to sing as a group - learning three-part harmonies in 90 minutes and then performing. Click on YouTube video below to check it out. It's another way for people to get together and spread the joy of song!

What attracted us to Pub Choir is that the Bojanglers have similar experiences with residents in the facilities we visit. This is another variation of the truly joyful experience of interconnection through song.
