“Performative Stories” is the new exhibition that just opened at Flinn Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut. As curators Leslee Asch and Kate Sheridan Chung defined it: “performative stories are narratives not only told through words or images but enacted through physical movement and sensory transformation”. Through of a variety of media, these works inspire curiosity - and there will be opportunities to learn more. Artist talks will be on two separate dates: with Jason Gardner and Dan Hurlin on Saturday, January 17 at 2 PM and Janie Geiser and Maiko Kikuchi on Sunday, March 1 at 2 PM. On view through March 3. Now open at the newly named Lynn and Stephen Cohen Galleries in the Bendel Mansion at Stamford Museum & Nature Center: “Fierce Planets”, a gorgeous exhibition of intricate quilted textile works, on view through January 5, 2026. A collaboration of Johns Hopkins Wavelengths and Studio Art Quilts Associates, this theme is perfect for this year, as SM&NC’s new Planetarium and Astronomy Center will be opening in mid-November! Final week: at the Neuberger Museum of Art, “Janet Langsam: Improbable Feminist”. Having known Janet as the longtime CEO of ArtsWestchester (now emeritus) and a very successful and impactful advocate for the arts, I was happy to have an opportunity to see and learn about her own art. I loved the large scale, and the subtle blending and texture of the colors she chose, as well as her use of multimedia. On view through June 29, 2025. More at neuburger.org
