Been thinking about this boy a lot lately.
I miss him every single day, but even more so recently since we moved into a new place.
It’s the first place that he won’t ever have been in and it’s kinda opened this wound back up. He was always there through our many moves from Pittsburgh to California to St. Louis to Denver.
The last image is one of my best selling cards. I made it while we were vacationing in Florida in 2021 and it made me cry while I drew it because it holds so much emotion. I knew it would be a pathway for people to show love to each other during a time of great loss and I knew that one day I too would personally know the pain of losing my dog.
I knew it was inevitable, but I knew all I could do was show him the most love possible. And that’s what I did. Everyday I showed him love.
The first photo was when I was trying to do a little photo shoot for my first website back when I started Fox Card Co in 2020. Of course he needed to be a part of it, he always made his way into being a part of everything. I wouldn’t have had it any other way either.
This month marks 5 years since I’ve been working on Fox Card Co. In June 2020 during lockdown I kept myself busy trying to design some cards and eventually in July I figured out how to make an e-commerce site using Big Cartel.
5 years later and I’m happy to say I’ve hit over 100K in sales through Etsy, Shopify and Faire. How in the world did that even happen???
If you told me 5 years ago that I’d hit that mark in sales I wouldn’t have believed you. I don’t share that to brag but I share it to hopefully inspire you to try your thing. To try that thing you feel nagging at your heart. I had literally no idea what I was doing when I started. I still struggle and make mistakes but hey I’m human and we’re all a little messy.
One thing that keeps me going is the feedback I’ve received on my sympathy cards. So many private messages on Etsy from customers thanking me for creating a card with the right words they want to send a friend during a time of grief. So many heartfelt reviews too. It gives this business more purpose than just an extra revenue stream for me. It gives it life and love. ❤️
