On Tuesday evening, I had the great pleasure of painting guest portraits alongside Elysia King at the WIPA St. Louis Q3 event! Guests were able to make a donation to LOVEtheLOU and then we would paint them on the spot!

Elysia- It was a TRUE JOY to paint next to you... to get to know you better... and see your fabulous artistry come alive. I've never had an "art buddy" at an event before, so that was more of a treat than I could ever express!!!

WIPA STL- I have loved every minute of being a part of this organization and here's why: the room is filled with CREATIVE, HARD-WORKING, SMALL-BUSINESS OWNERS with AMAZING ENERGY/HEARTS. What a privilege to come and be amongst you. I always leave inspired, I always leave having chatted with people who could be my new best friend- should space and time allow. I'm always looking forward to the next event (and the wardrobe prompt 🤪)

To everyone else who made this event happen- EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY LOVELY. But then again, I'm not at all surprised since there were SO MANY fabulous hospitality vendors who pulled together to make it happen!

FUN. FUN. FUN.

The details make your event come alive.
The details set the tone.
The details make your event feel meaningful.
The details show intention... and intention shows love.

After 16 years in the event industry, I know that it's easy to skimp on the details or write them off as frivolous. I would urge you not too... the details round out a well-planned event and make it feel polished. They're like the cherry on top that pulls the whole thing together. They're what will make your guests feel warm, appreciated and will have them talking for years to come.

Here are some of my favorite details from our recent vintage-themed bridal shower-
✨Asparagus added to the floral arrangements (the groom proposed after picking asparagus)
✨Parting gifts for each guests- a set of stationery with my great-grandad's artwork, including the art we used for our invitation
✨Custom printed deli papers to wrap treats in
✨Homemade ice cream in honor of my and my cousin (the guest of honor's) grandfathers
✨Menu tent cards- a small, but informative touch
✨Ask me about the vintage porcelain lady... quirky things are great conversation starters!
✨Pulling out the silver... not only did it elevate the event, it was also completely on theme
✨The little mints in my grandmother's silver bowl that reminded me of two old family friends- Edna and Bea- old ladies that we used to visit when I was young. Vintage for sure.

STUNNING flowers from my fabulously green-thumbed friend Field de Fleurs , arranged by me... and asparagus Ann Wright picked up from our local Hy-Vee 🛒 (I requested asparagus, told her it didn't not need to be organic, but did not tell her what I was using it for 🤣)

Chocolates chip cookies and homemade ice cream made by me, our favorite almond sticks from Underbrinks Bakery and the rest of the yums from Annaliese Spradlin . I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend the afternoon! Congrats Abigail!! Up next... YOUR WEDDING! ❤️❤️❤️

A little closer look at the invitations- because they truly were- SPECTACULAR. I can say that about my own work, right?! 🤪

Things to note:
Boxed, wrapped and hand delivered invitations
Custom cut and engraved 1/4" clear acrylic invitations, embellished with silver foiled
Glitter embellished gift tags and enclosure cards
Featuring artwork by my great grandfather Frank Bennett
Lined boxes and custom wrapping sheets

After the party, my dad asked why I chose to use Frank's painting for the invitation suite. My answer, "time"... because using his piece that is framed and hanging in my parent's dining room was one piece of the puzzle I didn't have to do on my own. He burst out laughing. It was a moment!

But also- what could be more vintagey than using art that was over 60 years old?! His work is part of my (and my cousin's) heritage, so what fun it was to share a bit of his legacy with our guests. I think he would have loved it... I know I did. 🥰

My mom sees/opens our shower invitation for the first time... here is her review!

Normally, our invitations would be more of a discussion, but due to lack of time, I just came up with these on my own... they were a complete surprise to her.

The prelude to any party is the invitation! It sets the tone, it sets the mood... and you know I couldn't miss an opportunity to do something BIG!

Our shower invitations were a group effort, for sure...
The artwork was created YEARS ago by my great, great grandfather. I designed the invitation, Chase laser cut and engraved the main piece, I laboriously silver foiled each acrylic piece, my fab summer intern avery hansen made each wax seal and helped me assemble them and finally, my mom helped wrap and hand deliver each box. It was totally worth it... I couldn't be happier with how they turned out!
