Midnight's WAKEY WAKEY Tix On Sale Monday!

Tickets for The Midnight Company’s St. Louis premiere production of Will Eno’s WAKEY WAKEY go on sale Monday, June 1, 10am, at MetroTix.com. Tickets are $20 for all shows that will run July 16-August 1 at The Chapel, 6238 Alexander, 63105. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays July 19 and July 26 at 2pm. Seating at The Chapel is limited, and early reservations are encouraged.

WAKEY WAKEY concerns a man, Guy, who knows, like all of us, on some level, that he is about to die. He’s attended by Lisa, his caretaker.

Ellie Schwetye will direct. Ellie is currently appearing in Young Liars’ WILD NIGHTS. She’s directed several shows, and acted, for Midnight. Joe Hanrahan, Midnight’s Artistic Director, portrays Guy, and Rachel Hanks will play Lisa.

Hanrahan said “In an era when most theatre tries to be different, WAKEY WAKEY is truly, seriously unique, and just plain difficult to describe. Not only what it’s literally about, but also what you might expect by coming. Midnight has done two Will Eno shows prior, THOM PAIN (based on nothing) and TITLE AND DEED, and I can confidently say WAKEY WAKEY continues the brilliant, hilarious, moving work we’ve come to know.” He added, “I think I’ll let some others comment on it. And the type of theatre it is.”�

“We’re in out fourth year doing this show at Blue Strawberry, playing almost exclusively to sellout audiences” said Joe Hanrahan, Artistic Director of The Midnight Company and writer/director of JUST ONE LOOK, “and it’s been selling out faster than ever.”

The May 21 JUST ONE LOOK show is all but sold out, and the next two editions of this Cabaret/Theatre hit about Linda Ronstadt have just been announced -
Thursday, June 18 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, July 19 at 7pm.
Tickets are on sale now at BlueStrawberrySTL.com or by calling 314.256.1745. And Hanrahan is urging folks to consider purchasing tickets “much sooner than later.”

“We’ve enjoyed incredible repeat audiences,” he said, “people bringing friends and neighbors to a show they don’t think anyone should miss.”

The show features Kelly Howe as 70’s superstar Ronstadt, and she has entranced audiences delivering Ronstadt’s wide array of classic songs in a very wide array of musical genres.
“We tell Linda’s story,” said Hanrahan, “and audiences have been intrigued and sometimes surprised by her life, but knocked out by the songs and Kelly’s performance.”

Howe is backed by a lineup of top veteran musicians, who’ve brought experience with Chuck Berry, Johnnie Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Glen Campbell and many great St. Louis bands and ensembles. Curt Landis is Music Director and is on piano, Mark Rogers on drums and vocals, and Tom Maloney plays guitar and bass.

Hanrahan portrays a British rock journalist whose interview with Ronstadt propels the show through her career. “I have the best seat in the house,” he said, “getting to listen these songs up close.”
