I gotta start taking my own advice! 😜
It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for more ! 📝
Colleen, owner of Colleen Creative, specializes and is known for storytelling through art. As a writer, singer-songwriter, designer and artist, she is learning how to turn what she refers to as her “creative faucet” on and keep it flowing.
✅ Don’t wait until you’re in the mood or for the right conditions to create. Get into a routine of creating every single day, for at least 15 minutes, even if you’re not feeling inspired. Chances are, you will start to have inspiration strike at other times of the day, too- act on that inspiration and dive in. Don’t overthink or procrastinate!
✅ Your story is unique, special, important and worthy. Don’t not share your art because you think it’s been done before! Something similar may exist, but it’s not YOURS.
✅ Talk about your art. Be proud! It’s good to be humble, but you also have to be your own sales(wo)man and cheerleader. If you’re not excited about your work, why would anyone else be? Let your art be your identifier; everyone who knows you should know, without a doubt, that you ARE an artist/writer/etc.
✅ Draw inspiration from anything and everything- train your brain to capture moments and experiences and use them for your art. Write down every thought, idea etc for a whole day, no matter how random, and watch more and more inspiration start to pour out of you. Sure, inspiration often strikes when we’re not looking, but think about how much more inspiration will strike if we are looking, open and aware!
Check back next week for another Tip!
