Businesses open for food, drinks, ice cream, sno-cones, bbq, pizza and sweets or you can bring your own snacks - no glass please. Trash cans located around the amphitheater to dispose of trash. 4/1/2024 - Funding of the Trust:
The New Town Trust is funded by RESALES not new sales. This means that every time a home is RESOLD (not the original sale) in New Town, a .2% fee (not 2%) is paid to the trust (usually by the seller, but that can be worked out at closing). On a $500,000 sale, the trust is paid $.2% which would equal $1,000. As many know, the real estate market has not been great and interest rates were up, therefore resales were/are down. In an effort to continue events for years to come, the decision was made to cut the budget this year by 1/2. This will allow many events, but also allow to build a reserve in case the market does not improve quickly. (Last year was an anomaly - most years the event schedule looks very similar to this year). The goal is always to provide entertainment to the residents and their guests. It costs about $4000 to put on a concert - depending on the band. Many of what some consider the "regular" bands were not booked this year (2024) due to budget cuts; however, all of the bands booked are spectacular and will put on fabulous shows for our residents and visitors! In addition, they will continue to bring in customers for our businesses. In addition the Trust receives some funding from the TAD (Theater Arts & Cultural Entertainment District Sales Tax - a state mandated sales tax). That tax is minimal - 1/2 cent tax ($5000 = $25.00), so the majority of the funding comes from resales or private donations.
