Painting small seems like whispering a secret…like sharing a quiet truth.

Meet the newest addition to my Tabletop Treasures series.

Isn’t there is something so intimate about art on a smaller scale ?

This series is designed to bring a pop of color to your favorite nook. A small reminder of joy and the anticipation of upcoming spring .

Freshly squeezed from the studio!🍋

Continuing my Tabletop Treasures series with this little study of a lemon tree in a ginger jar.

There is something so meditative about painting these everyday vignettes capturing how a bright pop of yellow can wake up the whole room.

This one brings a permanent slice of summer to your kitchen counter.

New series , Tabletop Treasures are small 4”x6” paintings that provide a glimpse of a floral moment and suspends them in light .

They are intimate moments, echoes of spring, small enough to place in that special spot to bring warmth and whimsy.

Perhaps on a bookshelf, entry console, next to your bed or on your desk.

Spring equals Flowers! I’m trying something different with this 4x6 small painting on paper.

I’m doing a series of maybe 10 different ones to be framed in lovely gold and glass locket style standing frames I recently found.

Surprisingly I enjoy working on this small canvas as it requires focus and accuracy. I find since it is so small compared to the size canvases I have been working on recently that I lose track of time.

Losing track of time is what I enjoy most in the creative process. Of course I also enjoy when the finished product is one I am pleased with.

Many is the time I have been lost in a painting only to end up with a piece that goes into Time Out until who knows when! Not that enjoyable.

When finished and framed these will look wonderful on a bookshelf, vanity , console table or night stand.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK! Love using orange in my paintings.

This is a WIP painting from 2 years ago that I started and never finished .. and am still working on !

Spring is coming and these colors are perfect.

In my studio I find myself drawn to the bright oranges, blues , greens and pinks to counteract the dull brown I see outside my window.

We are very lucky here in Florida that most of our trees and flowers live year round . Although this winter we had a hard freeze and my yard looks pretty bleak, so I find myself drawn to bright colors to counteract the browns I see outside.

Thankfully we”Spring” ahead this weekend .

Flashback portraiture and the book “Theo of Golden “.

I am reading Theo of Golden a story about a man who goes to live in a town and visits a coffee shop daily where there are 92 portraits of the townspeople hanging on the wall there.

He decides to purchase the drawings one at a time , then plans to find the person in the portrait then give that portrait to them.

This story caused me to remember these 6 portraits I had created in 2022.

Portraiture is not easy for me however I love the zone I enter when studying each feature, drawing the shapes, curve of the mouth , expression of the eyes ,slope of the nose and finally seeing the full face emerge.

I don’t know who these beautiful women are and although I wonder about their lives ,unlike Theo of Golden I won’t go searching for them .

Let’s have a conversation! ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ..!!!

So much controversy around what it CAN do and what it MAY do.

Chat GPT took my photographic image and created a painting that portrays my passion for creating art.

I love creating, the entire process of deciding what I want to paint next.

I enjoy the process of deciding what to paint. Where I find my inspiration whether it be from my camera roll or just an image in my head.

Sometimes I start my paintings from drips of paint , spreading it randomly all over the canvas and an image will randomly appear which I will then enhance .

I don’t want AI to create a painting for me because that would take away the joy I feel when I am creating.

As I see it , AI can be just one more tool for me to use as an artist. For example: Analyzing composition,value, contrast and colors I CHOOSE for my paintings .

What do you think AI can do for you in your life? What do you think of the image it created for me?

What do you choose in life ??

The UNEXPECTED? ORIGINAL? Or Safe Option?

Want to make a statement? Hang a large unexpected , original piece of art over your bed.

Sure landscape paintings or flowers are nice and certainly work as space holders over your bed….and that’s what interior designers suggest. They work,they are the SAFE OPTION.

I like to think outside the box . How about a giant 8 Ball or a giant Cupcake?
You are only limited by your imagination.

My collector saw the cupcake I created for over our bed and titled “Sweet Dreams”.
She wanted a giant 8 ball and she subsequently named it “The Money Ball”.

These paintings are 36”x48” and the correct size and scale for a king bed. They are the PERFECT unexpected ,original solution to create your most important getaway .
