Our goal is to support art and local artists and I think we did that well last night. Thank you to everyone who came out for Gallery Night! It was a beautiful evening of art & music. Thank you to my fellow 140 S Main business owners for all your hard work in hosting. So much work goes into having an event like this. The Experimental Music Group Steve Settle Brian Hemmelgarn Bob Linkman you guys were awesome providing beautiful music to enjoy the patio. Gallery Night artist Reagan Settle is a 21 year old artist from Springboro, Ohio. Currently studying at Ohio University, her major is painting and drawing. Her favorite mediums are oil paints and digital art. She creates art to find ways to connect with the viewers more intimately.
Gallery Night exhibitor Erica Eyre is an artist and art educator currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio. A recent graduate of Taylor University and current high school art teacher, Erica considers both of her practices-visual artist and art educator-as callings that engage her faith in rich and wondrous ways. Her work explores how intimate human relationships and patterns of thinking, perceiving and being-particularly those that manifest themselves in childhood-affect one’s perception of (and relationship to) God.

There will be live painting by Shawna Rheaume Hatton of Chasing Light Art Studio and Gallery, Anthony Murrill, and David Bailey at our Gallery Night event next Friday, June 24. Come and watch art appear before your very eyes.
Patricia Clark realized her desire to paint in a 9th grade art class when she was asked to copy a Monet. From that point on she was hooked. After the death of her husband in 1993 she realized how short life was and took up painting classes. She studied under Shelley Sizemore for over 15 years and learned valuable lessons and grew as an artist under Shelley’s direction. She has entered and been accepted to several juried shows, including the Miamisburg Art Guild and the Middletown Art Center and has received numerous awards. She now teaches oil painting at Middletown Art Center. A selection of her work is on permanent display at the Pendleton Art Center in Middletown, OH. The gallery is open the first Friday and Saturday of each month.
Born in upstate New York, Amy Dolan (https://amydolanfineart.com/) is a Fine Artist Painter and Designer who lives in the Midwest creating in her home studio. She is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a BFA, trained in painting, pottery and sculpture. Amy currently lives in the Dayton area while still traveling and interacting with current artists to continue to acquire new ideas and techniques. After spending many summer visits in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, Amy acquired a great appreciation of the beautiful colors of nature and changing colors in that area. During her career, Amy taught at the Dayton Art Institute and directed independent studies and classes for children and adults. After graduating from the University, Amy worked for more than 25 years in the advertising field as a designer and account executive. She currently focuses on painting, while still designing and exploring with other mediums as well. Amy has received several university awards and has participated in various gallery shows, exhibitions, and workshops in the Midwest and participates in Dayton Visual Art Center Art Auctions, University Alumni shows, and actively displays at Chasing Light Studio and Gallery in Springboro. Amy’s work is included in the collection of Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, and several private collections. She is an active member of The Contemporary Dayton, Dayton Society of Artists, Western Ohio Watercolor Society, and University of Dayton Fine Arts Alumni. Amy enjoys expressive techniques, impressionism, abstract, and the use of vibrant color and textures. Amy is influenced by nature and light’s reflection and enjoys exploring texture and color.
Gallery owner and Gallery Night exhibitor Anthony Murrill is an American artist and carpenter. He enjoys painting with bold colors and texture. He paints a wide range of things including animals, people and even landscapes. “I love painting just about everything, from small pet portraits to large modern statement pieces.” He has been happily married for 22 years and has two daughters. He has his studio/gallery in Historic Springboro and wood shop in Trenton. Anthony is gaining recognition nationally for his large textured paintings and shipping pet portraits nationwide. His recent accomplishments are: 2021 Best of Show at ARTfest on Main in Springboro, OH; solo exhibit at Springboro Performing Arts Center; and Amos Shinkle Award at The Duveneck Art Festival in Covington, KY. His work can be viewed in the gallery and studio at 140 S. Main St, Unit E in Springboro, OH, during normal business hours and by appointment. It can also be viewed at the Pendleton Art Center, Cincinnati, OH, studio 313, on the last Friday of the month and by appointment. Anthony is currently accepting commissioned orders and usually has several original pieces for sale.

Shawna Rheaume Hatton is a multimedia artist, instructor, and the owner of Chasing Light Art Studio and Gallery in Springboro, OH. She has been an artist all of her life, inspired by nature, light, and the beauty of God’s creation. She received her B.F.A in painting from Saint Mary’s College, and attributes her love of art history to a year studying in Rome. After having children, she discovered a love of teaching and has been an educator in the arts for over twenty years. Through her classes she hopes to foster a love of art and the creative process. She believes the process of creating is healthy, healing, and more important than ever.
Shawna describes her photography as impressionistic in nature, and her paintings as expressionistic. Her work can be found in private collections around the country and has won many awards. One of the highlights of her career was something new, when she organized an art show/fundraiser for the children of Ukraine, supporting A Child’s Hope Int’l. The community rallied around the cause, raising over $12,000 to help feed the orphans displaced by war. It was a true testimony of the power of art to unite and bring some good to the world.
Kelly Clemens Settle is a commercial photographer with over 15 years experience. Kelly Ann Photography works with large and small companies and specializes in product, architectural, industrial, and food/beverage photography, as well as headshots and web content. Kelly is constantly looking to improve her craft and has recently been exploring astro photography. She is debuting works from a class in Death Valley National Park, which has some of the darkest night skies in the US. Her works on display will include images of the Milky Way, the infamous sliding rocks, colorful Artists Palate, and panoramas at Zabriskie Point. www.kellyannphotos.com

I believe in the power of art to express human truths, heal hearts, and bring people together. I also believe we each have been given different gifts, talents, and resources, that are meant to make a difference in our own small corner of the world. A simple desire to help children, and a nudge from God, has grown into something truly awe inspiring to me, something I will never forget. It started with a very simple goal- to raise a little money and maybe inspire someone. When I say little- I really mean it. I thought it would be big if we could raise $1000, and HUGE if we could hit $2000.
It is no secret that humanity is at it’s best when working together for a common goal of good. Thanks to the talents and generous hearts of many artists and teachers from 4 Springboro schools, 2 Franklin schools, the Modern College, Middletown Arts Center, and Chasing Light Art Studio and Gallery, plus the City of Springboro, as well as a wonderful crew of people helping behind the scenes, the art show/fundraiser was truly a beautiful event. Right before Easter, when the local Pastor’s Association asked if they could help, I knew it was going to get even better. Yet, I was still not prepared for what happened last weekend.
YOU showed up. YOU came to see the joyful work, to support your kids, to support the children of Ukraine…and if you donated $1 or $1000, or just came to take it in, we are extremely grateful. Probably close to 300 people came through to see the show over the 3 days, which is amazing. You also showed up online- before the show was even hung, $750 had been raised through Facebook.
🌻🌻🌻The total results of this labor of love? ❤️Over $12,000 has been raised for A Child’s Hope Int’l to support the children in Ukraine whose lives have been turned upside down. About half of the money came from the silent auction, kids art sales, donations, and the Facebook fundraiser page and the other half came from the churches.🌻🌻🌻
I will share more pictures and details throughout the week. On Tuesday morning I will be going to down to Cincinnati to meet with the staff at A Child’s Hope Int’l. The Facebook fundraiser page is set to remain open until May 10th. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause!
