I’m baaaaack! THE GOLD FLECKS!!!

Been working just not posting. Got a real kiln. Moved the studio and have soooo much more space. Been making so much, now I have about a million things to glaze.
How do you handle the workflow from greenware to bisque to glazing, especially if you have to do glazing in phases and have multiple combinations on each piece?
All and elements glazes.

Also this is the second version of this, the first better version was supposed to go up tomorrow morning but it disappeared into the ether. It sucks cause of course I had to just start over immediately and now it’s super late. Won’t it be funny if it shows up too? We’ll see. This is going up now though just in case. I already told Susan it’s happening so it’s happening.

I did huge terrifying awesome thing. I showed my artwork in public for the first time, at my absolute favorite event in Spokane, the . Just seeing people like my stuff and choose it out of the millions of things they could’ve bought that day felt so crazy good and validating.

Lots of kids super excited to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift for their funky artsy planting mom. Plant enthusiasts that spent 45 minutes in my booth, looking at every single piece. People really liked it and I’m shocked. I’m still processing it, but it left me very excited and motivated and full of ideas and inspiration. I like, got a tax ID number and stuff like that. Wild. I wonder if this will happen in any real way. I didn’t make a ton of money because of everything I had to spend to set myself up, but I sold at least 15 pieces to people I didn’t know. Like 650 bucks. I covered my costs!!!! And I had fun. And I made a couple friends too. And an additional sale from a customer that regretted not getting more.

I also was overwhelmed in many moments by the amount of help and support my community showed up with. Helping in ways, I didn’t even think of. Spending hours making signs for me, taking down the booth after spending all day available for whatever I needed, watching my kids for me, bringing me lunch. My husband driving to the show at 6am in our truck in front of me filled with my pottery, I cried the entire way there feeling so grateful for all of the effort and energy the people around me have put in to support my dream.

Now to set up some kind of online shop and sell to someone out in the world that I’ve never even seen or talked to, that’s the next milestone I wanna get to.

Does anyone have suggestions for the best online platform for selling handmade one-of-a-kind stuff? I know they’re goods and bars to all of them, just wanna know what you guys think.

Really had fun with the fringe and adding chunks of dried clay into new clay for texture. The entire panel got added because a piece broke off. I love following the path of the piece, seeing mistakes or breaks as fateful and being open to what is supposed to be birthed without knowing what it might be at the start.
