I was honored to be asked by the Longarm League to share my goal‑setting process. I had the chance to geek out a bit and explain how I plan, reset, and keep my business aligned with my life. Meet the machines of SewBoji! I have an Apqs Millie Longarm with Quilt Path on a 14ft frame. Great space for small and big quilts. Next up, I have a semi-industrial Juki for my binding and bag projects. Then my Brother embroidery machine who helps personalize so many wonderful things. And last, but not least is a beautiful Singer portable who turns 100 this year! Each machine has a special job and a special place in my heart.

Why is your business named “SewBoji”?
I grew up near the Iowa Great Lakes — Spirit Lake, West and East Lake Okoboji — and the area has always meant fun, connection, and that “come as you are” lake‑life energy. Locals affectionately call it Boji, like a nickname you give a good friend. You’ll hear “that’s so Boji” when something captures the quirky, eclectic spirit of this place.
When I moved back home and started my business, I wanted a name that honored that feeling. I played around with “so Boji,” and the moment I wrote SewBoji, it clicked. Fun, playful, easy to remember, and full of the same welcoming vibe that shaped me. It still makes me smile.
