I’m Chelsey and you can normally find me out exploring a field of flowers, a new winery, or enjoying the sunset with family or friends. I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley where my love for the outdoors began. As surprising as it might be, I have a real excitement for waking before dawn to capture the mysteries of the sunrise. I love that each morning is a new beginning as its own unique
colors are painted across the sky. Art has always been a part of my life and I knew at some point I would find a medium that spoke to my heart. Photography is the medium that truly allows me to convey the thoughts running through my head. Following my heart I wound up in the fantastic city of San Francisco to study photography in depth. While at the Academy of Art University I found myself drawn to the human figure and fine art photography. Having graduated from the Academy of Art University with my master’s degree, I now live in the Northern Virginia area. I am dedicated to growing my photography business and strive to capture those unforgettable moments of you and your family. XOXO,

I am excited to be offering Christmas Mini Sessions this holiday season in a clean, sanitized, home studio. Twenty-minute photography sessions are available on Saturday’s throughout November and December.
Booking your session will be found on www.chelseymhall.com under Seasonal Mini Sessions. The booking fee is $100.00 and a non-refundable payment of $50.00 will go towards your booking fee and will hold your time slot. Once booked I will send an email out with detailed information about your photography session.
Three packages are curated for your choice of prints, cards, and digital images.

Flowers on my evening walk!
I could get lost in a field of flowers for hours and photographing each and every one! They are such rich in color and life!
It's been a while since I posted here but today I was walking through Ballston and couldn't pass up to take this snapshot of this building!
The colors, the lines, the reflections, just drew me in! More photography to come!
Week 13 : New Beginnings

New beginnings can take on so many meanings. I see new beginnings as I look up in the sky and see the airplane lines. Flying for me always feels like a new beginning, new adventure, and new memories to be made.

Week 12 : Trash

How is the world do you photograph trash?! I was working on my monthly budgeting and finances and had an pile of recipes sitting on the floor next to me so I figured I'd photograph them. Budgeting and looking at your finances an be confusing, frustrating, and can definitely make your head spin. I tried to convey those messages in my image this week!

Week 11 : Fill the Frame

This weeks challenge was to fill the frame with one color. As spring approaches I wanted to photograph the beautiful budding trees. 🌸

Week 10 : Hometown
.
.
.
This weeks challenge was to showcase your hometown. I wanted to photograph the ski slopes as that's what I think about when I say Massanutten. I used two images to create a diptych. I loved the contrast between the snow covered slopes and the winter forest around them. I was drawn to the pops of colors in the skis and snowboards of the second image. I felt that pairing these images together would create a more strong since of my hometown.

If you know me in the slightest way you know that my favorite way to have me time is a hot bath 🛁 and a nice glass of red wine 🍷 This weeks challenge was to photograph our mood and it was such a relaxing weekend.

Week 8: Leading Lines

This weeks challenge was to use leading lines to show infinity. I have always been drawn to this bridge at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown, WV. The weather was crazy that day. I woke up to fog and mist and in a matter of minutes it was sunny and blue skies. I loved the erie feeling that the dog gave off that morning.

A mother's love for their children is like no other love! I had the pleased of attending one of my best friends baby shower last weekend to celebrate her and baby Madie Lou 🧜🏼♀️ Love is undeniable in every way! I love you and can't wait to meet the little mermaid!

in the photography world means the image is straight out of camera, no editing done to the image in or . Bella was lounging on my bed most of the day so I picked up my camera and snapped a few images of her. I loved how she looks like she's waving to!

I drive by these perfectly aligned trees weekly. I've wanted to stop and take a photo. This weeks challenge was perfect for that. I loved the morning light coming through the branches!

I enjoyed photographing last weeks challenge so much I tried a few different shots. This one came out more of a product shot than showing warmth.

This weeks challenge was telling a story to show warmth. Warmth to me means sitting in front of a fire sipping on red wine with family or friends. I really enjoyed photographing this images so I'll post another image that I was pleased with.

This week I was home visiting my parents and wanted to photograph their beautiful home. Visiting home for me is always refreshing and rejuvenating. Traveling and living all over the country has made me truly love coming "home"!

I took advantage of the snow storm this past weekend. I've been eyes this grove of trees for a while now to do a photo shoot. I used a Fish Eye lens for this particular image. I loved how the trees are jetting out of the ground up to the sky.

Week 1 : Self Portrait

Self portraiture is a way to express yourself without words. Self portraits use to terrify me, "I'm a photographer behind the camera!" but when you let your guard down and photograph yourself you learn so much about who you are. I began photographing myself in 2012 and haven't looked back. This image is a portrait of me in my purest form with my most favorite photograph I've taken to this day. If you know me personally you know I love the mountains and they feed my soul.

I love waking up on the weekends with a cup of coffee and lounging in bed. This morning I started to read Art Thinking by Amy Whitaker. Stay tuned and I'll let y'all know about the book!
Week 3 : Full Manual
I'm a full manual photographer so this wasn't too much of a challenge for me. I was lucky enough to visit in Rochester, NY a few weekends ago. We wanted to pull out the cameras and capture Lake Ontario at Charlotte Pier!

Week 2 : Color Harmony
I am normally a portrait photographer and would much rather photograph people than still life or products. This week I wanted to challenge myself to photograph a product shot. This cucumber mint cocktail was so much fun to make and play around with the set up for the shot!

Week 1 : New Beginnings
We all have new years resolutions they we try and stick to. I've been saying I'll spend more time on my photography and my business. So this year to help stick to it I've decided to join in the Dogwood 52 photo challenge. I hope you all enjoy the images and follow along this year's journey!
