The Burren Backroom Series, launched in October of 2011, has already created many memorable, intimate, informal presentations. These shows are held in a truly atmospheric space, created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy & Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts. Shows on select Wednesday nights are hosted by legendary radio broadcaster Brian O'Donovan of WGBH's, "Celtic
Sojourn" and feature the best traditional irish music and similar genres the world has to offer. Brian's commitment to the promotion and preservation of the genre and it's wonderful traditions go unmatched in this town and every moment of these special shows reflects that. Shows Tuesday through Sunday are hosted by legendary host and champion of Boston's underground music community Tom Bianchi. With the skills he honed as one of Boston's most well known street performers at Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall and his long commitment to developing local talent, Tom is the perfect man for the job.
