My Dad passed away unexpectedly this week. It’s been a profoundly difficult experience and losing him is a tremendous loss. My Dad loved art and was an artist himself, these are two paintings he did I always liked. He wasn’t afraid to experiment and as a world traveler he was deeply influenced by the places he visited.
As a little girl I remember sleeping under a painting of a castle he did, for Christmas he’d draw portraits of Santa for us (from Santa…!) He was incredibly creative in everything he did.
Dad was my first teacher (watercolor-hard!) and always encouraged me no matter what. Being an artist is no joke and there were plenty of moments of self doubt, but he was my biggest cheerleader and he never ever gave up on me. Every time we talked he’d ask me about my work and what I was doing. To have someone believe in you that way is something you never forget, and I’ll carry this beautiful soul with me always. I know he’ll continue to support me from the other side and as much as I miss him and am absolutely devastated by this loss, I feel enormously blessed that I got to have him as a Dad.
I love you Dad, may you rest in peace ❤️🙏🏻🪽☁️
PS: I tried to find a better photo of myself as a child but they’re all slides! So this one where I’m crying is the best I could do - it was probably those weird pants they put on me…😳
Dad also had a great sense of style and humor.
