JSRWatercolors

JSRWatercolors Painting is a hobby and small business that offers the opportunity to share with others who love art! Inspiration is found in the world around me.

Creating art was an important part of my childhood, and has been a wonderful hobby as an adult. In recent years I discovered that I love the medium of watercolor. I enjoy the different effects that can be had with the paint and water. Each time I pick up my brush it is an opportunity to let the paint do something new. Part of the fun is in collecting subject matter by picking up a leaf while on a

walk, catching a moment in a photo, or observing the quirky personality of a bird.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11.

There is a lot going on in this! I put off painting it for a few years, because I felt it was too busy for a good composition. Oh, well! I couldn't resist. I loved the little boats and Steve's shadow on the dock in the original photo I took that day.

Last summer I painted the bottom picture for Sally's birthday. She asked me to paint some hummingbirds to go with it. Birds are something I am comfortable painting, but I want to try some new subject matter. Lately, I have been mostly painting just fun and experimenting a little with oils. Soon I will have to get more "serious", and start painting pieces for events. Stay warm on this cold January day!

I took a photo of my granddaughter playing in a stream while vacationing in Colorado. I loved the way she had her dress hiked up on her hip to keep it from getting in the water as she made her way across the stream. This is my first attempt at painting a person and it was a real struggle. I overworked the paint trying to make corrections. I have a lot to learn!

This is a busy week finishing framing and final projects before the Driftless Art Festival in Soldiers Grove, WI. The leaves are starting to show their color and it looks like it will be a beautiful weekend. Take a fall drive and visit the art festival. There are also several apple orchards close by with fall goodies!

This one is painted from LOTS of different places. The house is an abandoned farm towards Boscobel, the barn is from a photo I took on a drive, and the hay barn is on a friend's ranch in Colorado. Trees and splatters my own. I am a bit messy. God's Blessing.

Less than a month until the Driftless Area Art Festival. I hope to see some of you there!
