If your loose watercolor keeps flooding the paper, start before the brushstroke.

Dip to wet the brush.
Swipe off the excess.
Dab if it’s still holding too much water.
Then dip into pigment and paint!

Loose watercolor still needs water control. You want a brush that’s wet enough to move beautifully, not dripping before it ever reaches the paper.

Save this little rhythm: dip, swipe, dab, paint. 🎨

The 3/8" dagger brush is one of my favorites for loose, expressive leaves. 🌿

The pointed tip gives you a delicate start, while the belly creates that beautiful changing shape as you press and pull.

Don't try to make every leaf match. Change your pressure, angle, and direction and let the brush give you the variation.
