Come see Little Monster Illustrator, Bonnie Leick at Novel Bay Booksellers in Sturgeon Bay this Saturday from 10-1. Bonnie will be reading “It’s Halloween, Little Monster” at 10:30. Goodie bags will be available for the little ones and Bonnie will be signing her books. You might even catch a glimpse of her wearing bat wings!

One for Best Picture Duo for “It’s Halloween, Little Monster” and the other for Favorite Early Reader Series for the Little Monster series. Little Monster artist, Bonnie Leick shares how she comes up with the colors she uses in the books.

“I often times create a new color exclusively for the Little Monster books. The nighttime sky in “It’s Halloween, Little Monster” has four different blues mixed together. Little Monster’s scaly skin is a blend of two colors. Each character also has a set of colors that I keep track of on my color key cards (shown in the lower portion of this picture).”

If you find yourself shopping in downtown Sturgeon Bay on the peninsula of Door County, Wisconsin, stop in at Novel Bay Booksellers. It’s a wonderful bookstore and they carry the latest Little Monster book. The two previous Little Monster titles will soon join this one and they will all be signed.

What do you eat when you are reading your Little Monster books? The incredibly adorable Little Monster fan, Winnie, chooses a hot dog as her food of choice. What kind of hotdog would Little Monster eat? It probably would have crunchy bug parts and bat wings all ground up together and be smothered in slimy serpent tentacles nestled in a stale baked beetle bread bun!

Winnie’s mom says that she loves the creatures in the graveyard. But most of all, she noticed that “the eyeball on top of Little Monster’s outfit is “real” (in her words) because it’s open in some pages and closed in others”. She nailed it! ❤️
