As we prepare for an exciting 2026–2027 season, we are thrilled to share a special addition to MGI’s Membership Program: the return of Marlow Serenades as an unforgettable experience for members!🎶

Before the pandemic, our Marlow Serenades house concert series became one of the most beloved parts of the Marlow community — creating unforgettable afternoons of music, conversation, and connection in intimate settings. These performances offered audiences the rare opportunity to experience artists up close in a warm and personal environment, and we are excited to begin bringing this tradition back.

As part of the 2026–2027 Membership Program, members will receive invitations and priority access to these special events throughout the season, so become a member today! (Link in bio)

🎸 TWO TITANS. ONE STAGE. DO NOT MISS THIS.

This Sunday, May 3, we are hosting a meeting of the masters. The A-Z Duo features two of the most formidable forces in classical guitar: Aniello Desiderio and Zoran Dukic.

When "Il Fenomeno" (Desiderio) joins forces with the poetic virtuosity of Dukic, the result is pure musical electricity. This is the kind of performance people talk about for years—make sure you're in the room to hear it!

As we near the close of what has been a truly remarkable season, there is something important we want to share with you. After years of extraordinary dedication, creativity, and passion, Danielle Cu***ng will be stepping down as Artistic Director of Marlow Guitar International at the close of this season.

When Danielle took the helm from retiring Series co-founder Regis Ferruzza, she brought a fresh perspective, leading the organization’s artistic programming in new directions. In the 10 years that Danielle served as Artistic Director, she introduced Marlow audiences to 35 new performers, choosing guitarists from around the world to play for us for the first time. From classical to jazz and flamenco, Danielle introduced us to players she knew would resonate with us, from the Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo, Antigoni Goni, Alvaro Pierri, Martin Taylor, to our May 3 performer Aniello Desiderio.

Behind the scenes, Danielle has been a steady force in many of MGI’s activities, from selecting judges, composers and the current venue for the Myrna Sislen Youth Guitar Competition, to co-organizing education outreach and embassy engagement. Thanks in large part to her leadership, MGI stands today as a vibrant and respected organization, and that is something we will carry forward with immense pride.

Our concert on Sunday, May 3 will be Danielle's final one as Artistic Director, and we want it to feel as special as she has made every season feel for all of us. We hope you will be there with us to say thank you in person!

As we continue to celebrate , we are traveling to the heart of Catalonia to honor a woman who was much more than a guitarist—she was the soul of a movement. 🇪🇸🎸

Today, we remember the incomparable Laura Almerich (1940–2019). If you’ve followed the "Nova Cançó" movement or the music of the legendary Lluís Llach, you know Laura. But her legacy as a classical guitarist is a masterclass in artistry, loyalty, and technical brilliance.

Why she is a guitar icon:
✨ Classical Foundation: Trained at the prestigious Barcelona Conservatory, Laura brought the rigor and elegance of classical guitar to the world of protest songs and folk-pop.
✨ The Ultimate Collaborator: For nearly 40 years, she was the primary musical partner to Lluís Llach. She didn't just "accompany"—she wove intricate, soulful guitar textures that defined an era of Catalan culture.
✨ A Moment in History: In 1985, during a massive concert at Camp Nou, she became a symbol of raw artistic emotion when she was too moved to finish the solo on "Abril 74." It remains one of the most human moments in live music history.

Laura Almerich proved that a guitarist’s greatest strength isn't just their fingers—it’s their heart. She was a woman who navigated the intersection of classical mastery and popular culture with grace and a fierce dedication to her roots.

What an incredible afternoon of music this past Sunday! 🎸✨

Our Volterra Project Trio concert was a true celebration of the guitar’s past, present, and future. From the first note of the pre-concert recital to the final standing ovation, the Cultural Arts Center was filled with world-class artistry.

🌟 Spotlighting Our Rising Stars
Before the main event, we were treated to two exceptional performances by our recent competition winners:

Abdullah Abujoudeh: Our pre-concert recitalist and the 4th place winner of the Senior Division at the 20th MGI Myrna Sislen Youth Guitar Competition. Abdullah’s performance was a beautiful testament to the talent brewing in our youth programs!

Dylan Laris: Taking the main stage to open the concert, our Berta Rojas Grand Prize Winner delivered a performance filled with the grace and technical precision that earned him our top honors.

🇮🇹 The Volterra Magic
Then, the Volterra Project Trio—led by the incomparable Antigoni Goni—took us on a musical journey. The synergy of three master guitarists playing as one created a lush, "guitar orchestra" sound that resonated through the hall. It was a masterclass in ensemble playing and a perfect conclusion to our guitar-packed March!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to support these incredible artists and our vibrant MGI community.
