We invite local residents, students, families, organizations, and aspiring filmmakers to share their stories. You don't need professional equipment ~ a smartphone and a good story are all it takes.

Introducing the Spirit of Shirley Award

What's your Shirley story?

The Shirley Film Festival is proud to introduce the Spirit of Shirley Award, a new award celebrating films that capture the heart of our community.

We're inviting local filmmakers, students, families, neighbors, and storytellers of all ages to create a short film (2–8 minutes) inspired by the people, places, traditions, history, beauty, and everyday moments that make Shirley—and our surrounding communities—special.

Your film might tell the story of a remarkable person, showcase a favorite local spot, preserve a town tradition, celebrate an organization, capture nature through the seasons, or simply share a moment that reminds us what it means to belong.

Whether you film with a professional camera or your smartphone, what matters most is your story.

The winning film will receive the Spirit of Shirley Award at the Shirley Film Festival on November 7, 2026.

So grab your camera, gather your ideas, and tell us your Shirley story. We can't wait to see the world through your eyes.
