So why the wolves? ๐Ÿบ

When my client came to me with this idea, she didnโ€™t come to me asking for specific imagery. She came to me with her story.

She told me about the bond she shares with her daughter, how close the two of them are, how much her daughter loves animals, and the journey sheโ€™s been on with sacrifice, personal growth, and becoming closer to her faith.

She gave me creative freedom with how I interpreted those things, and I chose a mother and younger wolf to represent the two of them. Wolves have such a strong connection to family, loyalty, and protection, and it felt fitting for the relationship she described to me.

Funny enough, when I first showed her the concept, the wolves completely surprised her. ๐Ÿ˜† She ended up looking more into their symbolism afterward and told me she loved the idea even more once she understood the meaning behind them.

And thatโ€™s something I really love about custom work.

Creative freedom doesnโ€™t mean I just come up with whatever I want and you have no say in it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ It means you bring me your vision, your story, and what you want your tattoo to represent. I ask questions, get to know the meaning behind it, and when you give me room to be creative, I find a way to turn those pieces of your story into something visual.

Itโ€™s always a collaboration. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

My client came to me with an incredible conceptโ€”an astronaut and a scuba diver existing in two completely different worlds, yet mirroring one another as if looking through a reflection.

Inspired by the idea of โ€œas above, so below,โ€ she envisioned the astronaut and diver as two reflections of the same person, existing in different worlds. Their hands almost touch, creating a moment of connection between two environments that should never meet.

We actually began this project during my Omaha pop-up, and she later drove 9+ hours to my studio in Texas so we could bring the vision to life.

I love projects like this because they go beyond creating a realistic tattooโ€”they become visual stories that invite you to look a little longer and discover something new each time.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is taking a handful of ideas and transforming them into one cohesive design ๐Ÿค—

For this project, my client wanted a mix of Ray Charles, Dead Manโ€™s Hand, and an old Western feel, then trusted me to bring it all together. Every element was carefully composed to flow naturally with the upper bicep while bringing each idea together into one cohesive composition.

This tattoo was completed in ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ-๐๐š๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ.

An unbelievable transformation for an amazing client ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ! I couldnโ€™t be prouder of how this Medusa cover-up turned out.

My style of black and grey realism is built on subtle tones and working with the skin, which is why I can only work on a clean canvas. This project was the rare exception because the client did the crucial prep work: she invested in laser treatments to lighten the old tattoo significantly. That created a canvas my style could actually work on.

Now, can dark tattoos be covered without laser? Absolutely! But that requires a true cover-up specialist. Those artists are masters at using strategic, dense designs to completely hide old workโ€”it's a different skillset and art form. If you're not getting laser, I ๐‡๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐‹๐˜ recommend finding an artist who specializes in that.

I'm sharing this piece to show what's possible when a client is committed to the process. While I'm proud of it, my books are ๐๐Ž๐“ open for cover-ups. My passion remains large-scale realism on blank skin.
