This is my fifth play at the Whitefire Theatre, and I'm incredibly proud of this one. It's an important story that deserves to be shared. Just 23 years ago, gay Americans could still be arrested in the privacy of their own homes under laws that criminalized same-sex intimacy. *Texas So**my* tells the remarkable true story of the case that changed that forever.

I'm also deeply grateful to Bryan Rasmussen for believing in my work over the years. It's especially meaningful to me that this production will be part of his final season as Artistic Director of the Whitefire Theatre before he retires this December. 🎭 For the past three years, I've been researching this remarkable true story, interviewing people connected to the case—including Lane Lewis, the Houston activist who became John Lawrence and Tyron Garner's closest ally after their arrest. Lane has been incredibly generous in sharing his story with me.
