Some ask,
“If you suddenly came across a million dollars…
what would you buy?”
Would you buy the car you’ve always wanted?
Would you buy the home of your dreams?
Would you cash it out and roll around in it on your bed?
But what about the homeless man on the street corner?
What about the college student about to lose their home?
What about the sick child whose family can’t afford the medical bills?
I used to think about what I could do with a million dollars.
And while it would change my world…
it wouldn’t heal the world.
It wouldn’t help every neighbor.
It wouldn’t save every stranger.
It wouldn’t raise the vibration of humanity.
It wouldn’t fix everything.
A million dollars may seem like a lot —
and it is.
But it is not enough to solve hunger.
It is not enough to heal the sick.
It is not enough to warm the cold.
It is not enough to free the oppressed.
Sometimes,
it is only enough for temporary smiles.
Enough to feed the ego.
Enough to justify another purchase.
But maybe happiness was never meant to come from having everything.
Maybe true wealth is found in what we give away.
Because without selfishness,
money can become life-changing.
It can feed someone who is hungry.
It can help pay the bills of someone drowning.
It can put a smile on a stranger’s face.
It can shelter someone from the rain.
It can remind someone they matter.
Maybe… just maybe…
we spend too much time thinking about what we deserve,
and not enough time thinking about who needs help beside us.
Maybe we can become the change.
We can become the reason someone smiles.
The warmth on a cold night.
The spark of hope in someone losing faith.
We can be compassion.
We can be kindness.
We can be light.
And the beautiful part?
It doesn’t even take a million dollars.
