Artworks Gallery Offers Watercolor Landscape Techniques Workshop
The Artworks Gallery offers Watercolor Landscape Techniques Workshop with Roberta Nelson on Saturday, June27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Artworks Gallery, 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.
Roberta says, “This workshop is designed to enhance your paintings by increasing depth with the use of warm and cool pigments, by using different types of washes and painting methods to achieve various effects, and by using unusual tools and materials to create interesting textural effects.” Participants need to bring watercolor paint set, brushes, cold pressed 140lb. wt. watercolor paper, board larger than the paper to stretch the paper, masking or painters tape, water container, paper towels, water container, pencil and eraser, and photos to use for subjects. The instructor will provide instruction sheets and materials and tools for texturing.
Cost is $30. Register by June 20. To register for the workshop email [email protected].

Artworks Gallery Offers Mixed Media Landscape Workshop
The Artworks Gallery offers Mixed Media Landscape Workshop with Roberta Nelson on Saturday, June 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Artworks Gallery, 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.
Roberta says, “Have fun composing an interesting painting using a combination of dry and wet mediums which create interesting textures and atmospheres. The wet medium used will be watercolors and the dry can be regular pencils, colored pencils, or pastels. Emphasis will be place on arranging objects into interesting and balanced compositions based on the Principles of Design and then enhanced by texturing and shading.” Participants need to bring watercolors, brushes, palettes, pencils, erasers, and watercolor paper 140lb. wt., colored pencils or pastels. The instructor will provide information sheets and landscape materials.

Artworks Gallery Offers Pen and Ink Drawing Workshops
The Artworks Gallery offers Pen and Ink Drawing Workshops with Roberta Nelson on Thursdays, June 4 through June 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. The workshops will be held at the Artworks Gallery, 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.
The workshop will concentrate on methods used to create tonal values in objects when drawing with pen and ink or felt tipped pen. It will cover the ways various drawing techniques are applied. Participants need to bring a fine felt-tipped pen, drawing tablet or paper, regular pencil, eraser, and photo to be drawn.
Cost is $20 per workshop. Register by June 1. To register for the workshop email [email protected].

The Artworks Gallery Call for Entries in “Celebrate America” Juried Art Show
The Seneca County Arts Council’s Artworks Gallery will be accepting entrants in the annual juried art show. This year the gallery will celebrate our Country’s 250th birthday with a theme “Celebrate America”. The show will run from July 3 through August 1, 2026. The show will open with a public reception on Friday, July 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
at the Art Works Gallery, 109 Fall Street, downtown Seneca Falls.
Seneca County Arts Council VP Bev Lombardo says, “I am entering a recent pastel I did depicting the sunset behind a sunflower field, on the farm across the street from my daughter’s home. Notice, I mentioned home, not house, home means family. Her home is a base where family gathers. Family, a beautiful rural scene, is America to me.” Show us how “Celebrate America” is depicted in your paintings.
Awards are: Juror’s Choice $150, Best in Show $150, Two Honorable Mentions $50 each. A People’s Choice vote will go on during the duration of the show. The winner of People’s Choice will receive a membership for 2027.
Entries are due Thursday, June 25 through Saturday, June 27 during Gallery hours 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. Entry fee for total of two pieces: $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Payment by check or cash accepted.
Entries must be ready to hang with wire. 3-dimensional work needs its own display pedestal. All entries are to have name, phone no., title and media clearly marked. Entries must be original work done within the last five years. Entry forms are available at the Art Works Gallery or online at www.artsinseneca.org. The Gallery will receive a 25% commission on all work that is sold.
Seneca County Arts Council supports the arts in the local area through its art workshops, art shows, gallery space and a scholarship program. Artworks Gallery shows the work of member artists, photographers, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, blown glassware, knitted and assorted crafts. Interested in becoming a member? Get Ready for the Annual Juried Art Show July 3 - Aug 1
The Seneca County Arts Council’s Artworks Gallery will be accepting entrants in the annual juried art show. This year we will have a theme “Celebrate America”. It is our Nation’s 250th birthday. Our theme can cover its landscapes, its people, even the American spirit. Get creative! The opening reception will be Friday, July 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Awards are: Juror’s Choice $150, Best in Show $150, Two Honorable Mentions $50 each.
