If you ever find yourself thinking “thrifting, antique shopping, and resale is easy” I want you (in the nicest way possible) to think again!
While it is so much fun - it is also a ton of time, money, emotions, and boxes piled up in your home.
You don’t just do it for the fun of it, though that may be the reason you start. It will definitely not be what you continue thinking once you really get into it.
Once you go to a couple of estate sales, or start really learning your items and how old they are and what they were used for you will realize it’s an emotional rollercoaster and it’s something your heart starts to fall in to.
You start thinking about who used these things and how special they were to them. You start thinking of the families who got rid of these things because a loved one died and they couldn’t keep it all even though they may have wanted to keep every last thing.
You find things that you see potential in and you have to think about how others may not see the potential in the things that once were and what they could be again.
You see how the trending things (that aren’t very well made) are taking over and how no one is buying the handmade tough b***d lasting things.
You realize that it takes hours of shopping and searching for things. That it takes hours and hours of your time fixing things, repurposing them, and CLEANING CLEANING CLEANING!
Yes it is a hobby, it is fun, but it’s also very meaningful, special, and beneficial for many!
So next time your out doing one of these things or buying from someone who does this I want you to think about the work, time, thought, effort, and love they poured into these pieces and how they are trying to save these great pieces from being treated as junk! 🥰
