I posted this in 2024. We had the NCAA Women's Volleyball attendance record that day. Louisville Volleyball was defeated by Penn State Women's Volleyball.
Since then women’s sports exploded to the point that Nebraska Volleyball decided to pull off an attendance record themselves. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's volleyball match against the University of Nebraska at Omaha now holds the world record for attendance at a women's sporting event, as 92,003 fans filled Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30. The previous record was set by 91,648 fans at a 2022 soccer match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg. The Volleyball Day celebration also drew the largest crowd in the 100-year history of Memorial Stadium.
Penn State Women's Volleyball secured their 8th NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship yesterday, defeating Louisville Volleyball at the KFC Yum! Center.
According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a record-breaking 21,860 people attended the championship matchup between the University of Louisville and Penn State at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville. This milestone marks a new era of excellence for women's volleyball.
