Can you believe it? February is already here! In just a few short weeks I will teach a printmaking 101 class open to all levels. We'll learn how to transfer, carve, and print all in this one- day class. It'll be at the Northwest Arts Center in Duvall, WA -- a place that is a great place to meet new friends and learn. Another layer completed! Yay! It has been a trying process. This time around I went with a 330 gsm paper (the paper was way too smooth to easily lift prints off of) and printed with a glass baren (which is a new challenge for me). I ran out of white and ended up with colors that were way to dark and I carved when I probably shouldn't have. But . . . I learned a lot through this process and wouldn't change a thing.

I'm not done with these prints yet. Stay tuned for what I do next 😉.

There's nothing like carving lino to calm the mind. I swear with everything going on right how, I have more and more reason to turn to art. Art helps us begin to process the unfathomable. And there is enough to process for the next few generations. People (all people living in the US) need to feel safe and that's not happening. I'm thinking of you all and hope you are safe out there.

Hi guys! I haven't been posting much because I've been busy prepping for my new printmaking class coming to the Northwest Art Center (northwestartcenter.org ) in Duvall! (I couldn't pull up the specific url, I will edit it in later).
Please check it out! I would love to see you there. There are only 12 spots available and it would be great to have a full house.
I will be bringing in my small (11 x 17) printing press for our use. With it and with your imagination, you can print drawings and photo inspired works. Here are some of the pieces I've created. Did I say this is relief printmaking? No? We'll it is and it's a lot of fun. We'll be learning how to transfer drawings to lino (the surface we'll be working on), how to carve out your drawing, and how to print your artwork on paper. So fun!
