Things are happening…

After a (musically) quiet mid-year that has seen home and studio moves, career upgrades, new family members and more, we’re excited to finish the year with some new announcements and music in the coming week. Until then, enjoy this picture of Ferris helping David write a new song…

Birthday +7 - first off, thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! This years birthday has been particularly special and has culminated in one of the best weeks of my 40 years (this being the 15th 40th birthday I’ve celebrated).

The last 10 days we have:
- backpacked to the Pacific Coast with 8 teenagers (and NOT killed any of them)
- moved from our Fox Island home
- moved TO our new beach home in Manchester across from Seattle
- sat on the beach each day (with cocktails) watching the Blue Angels over the city, the boats and ships going to and fro, the alpenglow on Mt Rainier, every sea bird stake its claim and our dog Ferris go from neighborhood dog to beach dog.
- watched the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan return to port in Bremerton from our patio

Life…is good. Hope it’s treating you all with the blessings you deserve!

(From David) I began writing Into the Dream around the time that my mother died. Frannie, as she was known to most, was beautiful, funny, warm, wise, and welcoming of all. She was the closest person to me and she left me with so much love and joy from her living that I could not complain about her loss in death so I looked to music to help deal with the grief. At first the song was church-like, probably because my past experiences with funerals, but over time and with collaboration it turned into something hauntingly ethereal and uplifting as she so rightly deserved. Her spirit remains beside me while, at the same time, I know it ranges far and wide and it was that dichotomy that led to this song about life and death…everything and nothing.

This is for you, Momma...thank you for guiding me to the tune and leading me into the words. I hope that somewhere out there you’re able to hear it...
